I have had this 360-outlet 2 months now- easy to install and rotating outlets work great in the bathroom. I had some hesitation because of that one star review about the surge protector not having a reset button. I did my research tho and got this lengthy but very informative answer from 360 about how surge protectors and GFCIs (ground fault circuit interrupter) work.
Their explanation below:
If you experienced a surge event, the surge protector "sacrificed" itself to prevent the surge from damaging your connected devices. In fact, all surge protectors are designed in a similar way. As surges enter your home, the surge protector "absorbs" the energy and prevents damage to your connected devices. All surge protectors are designed to handle multiple small surges or potentially one very large surge, and no surge protector is resettable in its ability to stop surges. If a surge protector has sacrificed itself to prevent damaging surges, then it has done its job and it's time to replace it with a new one. Although some power strip type surge protectors have switches on them, these switches actually have a different function.
Our 4-Outlet Rotating Surge Protector does not have a resettable circuit breaker switch (GFCI). While most power strips and cord connected surge protectors have this feature, I would like to make it clear that if you have experienced a surge event, a resettable circuit breaker switch does not "reset" the power strip's surge protection functionality. Rather, the circuit breaker switch's only function is to protect your devices in the case of an overload on the circuit. It is not always obvious when you have an overloaded circuit in your home and it has more to do with how the wiring in your home has been set-up, and not just how many devices you have plugged into your surge protector.
This can be difficult for anyone but a certified electrician to troubleshoot. If you have had experiences in the past, where using surge protectors caused the breaker switch (GFCI) on the power strip to "trip" or a breaker in your home's service panel trips, then you potentially have an overloaded circuit somewhere in your home and I would highly recommend having a licensed electrician take a look to find the root cause. I would also add that it is abnormal for homes in the US to experience frequent and/or consistent surge events. This of course depends on where exactly you live, but if you believe you are experiencing surges all the time, it may be an overloaded circuit scenario instead.
