Tools and Hardware Reviews of 3M LC-8S20C Lead Check SwabsCustomer Review: The procedure is simple Summary: 5 Stars
The instructions state to crush the swab in two places and then squeeze until a small amount of fluid shows at the end of the swab - then you have two minutes to rub the swab on the surface you are testing. If it turns red or pink or purple, lead is present. The test will not work if you swish the paint chips around in the solution. The swab must be rubbed on each surface you are testing. Consumer reports gives this product a high rating for detecting surface lead.

Just like it says! Work great and super easy to use. I really like the test pads that come with the kit to make sure everything is working.
Customer Review: Lead Test Kit -- does the job Summary: 4 Stars
We bought this test kit after finding out about an old (well a very old) recall for lead blinds.
The instructions could use some more explanation. The test tubes are good for two or three tests, but we were unsure if we were testing correctly. The instructions should have included weather or not you are looking for the 'red' color on the test strip brush or on the item.
Other than that, the strips did the trick and worked well. A great thing to have around for a quick check.
Customer Review: easy to use Summary: 4 Stars
Hard to say if it works, as it detected no lead in my house, to my relief. But it does come with handy test strips containing real lead, so you can see if the test itself was defective, or whether it was in fact detecting no lead. In all cases, the swabs did turn the test strips red, but detected no lead in my house. Yay.
Customer Review: Lead test kit simple to use Summary: 4 Stars
Leadcheck lead test kits are simple to use if directions are followed carefully. Brings peace of mind when having doubts about products. A worthwhile investment.
