Tools and Hardware Reviews of AccuSharp Knife Sharpener With Replacement BladesCustomer Review: It works miracles Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this after reading a review in Cooks Illustrated. The sharpener was very inexpensive but really worked miracles on my very expensive but very dull knives. I'd given up on the sharpening steel and thought I would give this a try. As soon as it arrived I took it out of the box and very quickly, and safely, sharpened my knives. It was so amazing that i'm still in awe. I can't believe that after all the years I spent with dull knives the solution could be so simple. I know that the purists would say that this is somehow harmful but if you're not going to master the art of sharpening with a steele (and I did try this for many years) this is the way to go. I'm going to buy another for my sister who has duller knives than I did.
Customer Review: Excellent knife sharpener Summary: 5 Stars
I've tried many tricks for sharpening my good knives, without success. I've got one of those metal pole things and managed to use it without cutting any fingers off, but it didn't seem to do anything but make the blades less sharp. I also have a sharpening stone, which works, but it's a pain and takes a lot of time.
I love this sharpener, since it works like a charm. You run the knife though it a few times and hey presto - it's like a razor again. I use it once a month and all my knives are super sharp. If I lose mine, I'll definately get another. It's sturdy and I purchased extra blades just in case, but I've not needed them yet, and I've been using it for months. Why can't everything be this simple!
Customer Review: Sharp knives make for cleaner and easier cuts. Summary: 5 Stars
I received my AccuSharp Knife Sharpener one day before it's expected arrival date. It's a little strange operating the sharpener, as you lay the blade of the knife, on a table, blade up, and you lightly run the sharpener along the blade length, keeping the h/d plastic guard between the blade and your fingers. The sharpener works fine, is easy to master, and the blade is SHARP. Both my wife, and myself, cut ourselves with our Chef's Knife not more than 30 minutes after I sharpened the blades...not while I was sharpening them, I must add. You also get a replacement sharpening steel in a handy little package that is easily stored in a kitchen 'junk' drawer. This sharpener does NOT sharpen scissors.
Customer Review: Best knife sharpener that I've ever had Summary: 5 Stars
After half a century of trying to find a knife sharpener that (1) doesn't take hours to apply an acceptable edge, (2) doesn't cost an arm and a leg and (3) is easy to use for anyone, I have finally found it. Kudos to AccuSharp. It's so inexpensive that I'm buying several more for stocking stuffers. So easy to use that anyone can put an acceptable edge on a knife. Using this I put a great edge on every knife in the kitchen (plus a couple of others) within 30 minutes. I used to dread the 10-20 minutes per knife that I was spending using diamond bars and graduated grit stones. This sharpener is amazing. Everyone should have a couple. GREAT PRODUCT.
Customer Review: It works!!! Summary: 5 Stars
Having spent hundreds of dollars over the years on various electric sharpeners that were a pain to use and in my unskilled hands produced dubious results, I was intrigued by this very inexpensive simple looking device on Amazon. But for the reviews, I would have assumed that it could not work.
Was I ever wrong. It is great. A few simple strokes, and dull useless knives suddenly slice through things perfectly. Even roll sausage that always came out a squashed mess now slices into lovely round disks. I am in the process of giving one to everyone I know. It is wonderful when something actually works. A delight.
