Tools and Hardware Reviews of Air-O-Swiss AOS Ultrasonic Humidifier - 7135Customer Review: Quiet, just won't humidify room Summary: 2 Stars
We bought this humidifier for our bedroom (225 sq ft). It's ultra quiet and easy to use. However, the hygrometer seems to read about 7-10% lower than any of the other hygrometers I have in the house - it never seems to get above 35%, even running constantly. I returned the first one of these I bought, thinking it was a problem with the machine. But it isn't - the hygrometer is calibrated fairly low, and with a minimum humidity setting of 40%, the thing runs all the time.
Customer Review: Very Expensive to Maintain Summary: 2 Stars
The humidifier works fine for me BUT... it costs nearly $100 to maintain each year.... Once per year you need to replace a $30 Ionic Silver Stick. Every 2-3 months you must replace the dimineralization cartridge $15/ea. ($45 for the three I use during winter). Hard water may force you to replace more often. Then you have to use a special cleaner/descaler solution every two weeks. It's like having to buy a new humidifier each year.
Customer Review: Not satisfied Summary: 2 Stars
I did proper maintenance and replaced the ionic stick and filter as recommended by the manufacturer. The unit stopped working after two winters...would not turn on. It has a three year warranty though Plaston is slow to accept any returns and makes you jump through hoops. The white dust issue is also very irritating...can't be good for your lungs and definitely annoys whomever has to clean up after it.
Customer Review: White dust everywhere Summary: 2 Stars
This humidifier is quiet. It does create humidity in the air. However, it leaves white dust EVERYWHERE. I tried changing the mineral cartridge, filling it with filtered water, filling it with distilled water, and nothing worked. After having to dust my entire house every two days for a month, I gave up on this humidifier and I'm going back to a filtered unit.
Customer Review: Too much humidity Summary: 2 Stars
Good controls, easy to use and seemingly well-designed. However, when we used it in our kids room on the first night on automatic setting, the next morning we found that the condensation created had led to pools of water on the window shelves and then on the hardwood floor. The paint on the walls is stained as a result.
