Tools and Hardware Reviews of Powerbuilt 648796 Honda Crankcase Pulley Removal ToolCustomer Review: Great product for the Honda mechanic Summary: 5 Stars
This tool is great for helping remove or reinstall the crank pulley bolt on most any Honda/Acura vehicle. It especially helps hold the crank in place when the pulley bolt is torqued to the proper spec, as it prevents the engine from getting rotated backwards (which can be very bad) while tightening the bolt.
This particular tool has the best price I've seen, probably half the price of more expensive brand-name tools, but it works exactly the same.
Customer Review: GREAT tool! Summary: 5 Stars
If you are considering removing the crankshaft pulley from your Honda engine, don't even think twice about getting this tool - especially if you are removing the pulley solo. I had a 6' pipe on a breaker bar and all of my weight to get my pulley bolt loose. This tool did a great job of holding the pulley in place (with a smaller breaker bar firmly planted against the sub-frame). For the time and aggravation this tool saved, it was well worth the cost.
Customer Review: Honda crank pulley holder Summary: 5 Stars
Was very pleased with this tool, it worked really slick with a breaker bar which I purchased from Harbor Freight. I could not find it anywhere other than Snapon tools(which was WAY over priced). Found it on Amazon for a fraction of the cost, which saved me money. Thanks Amazon, never would of thought you could find tools of this special nature on here. Changing my timing belt cost me under [...] bucks, tools included. I just love saving money.
Customer Review: Makes the impossible job possible Summary: 5 Stars
With that bolt being secured at 180 ft-lbs of torque, this tool is a must! There's no other way to hold that crank pulley and either loosen or tighten that bolt. Nothing like having the right tool for the job. The price is worth it considering how it's made. However, one could just as easily buy a 50mm hex nut and have a bar welded onto it and it would work in the same manner. You might save $20 or more that way, but your time is worth something.
Customer Review: Better than hours with an impact wrench. Summary: 5 Stars
This is a MUST have for taking off the crankshaft bolt on a Honda. I spent a couple hours trying to get that thing off with my buddies impact wrench (which might be broken now), and this tool took it off in seconds. You WILL need a 20-24" extension (1/2") (or 2 x 10-12" extensions) and a breaker bar with a cheater pipe (and a torque wrench for putting the bolt back on). Do NOT use the extensions that allow for play or wobble, they WILL snap.
