Description of American Innovative Neverlate Executive Alarm ClockEver since the introduction of the first and only 7-day alarm clock in December 2004, American Innovative has been logging feature requests and product improvement suggestions from our customers. Nearly every aspect of the neverlate executive is fully customizable. We've introduced the concept of alarm banks - three in all. The two 7-day banks provide two, completely independent seven-day wake schedules - his and hers for example. In addition, we've included a daily reminder bank. We are also pleased to introduce the first-ever preferences menu in a clock radio. Everything from the backlight brightness, to the alarm duration is fully adjustable. Wake to NPR news at 7:00am weekdays, your Saturday morning talk show on a different station and the buzzer on Sunday. There's no other clock radio in the world with this capability. Line-in, headphone jack and more - a powered USB port on the back accommodates an electric fan or laptop boom lamp. Each time you hit the snooze button the snooze time is cut in half until finally the neverlate executive won't let you snooze any more. You can even disable the tempting snooze button.
Tools and Hardware Reviews of American Innovative Neverlate Executive Alarm ClockCustomer Review: All in all, a great little alarm clock! Summary: 5 Stars
Many years ago I bought a 7-day alarm clock after seeing an ad in with my Shell Gas bill. What a great idea! I used it for well over 10 years and considered it one of my "oh yay!" purchases. I finally got rid of it, not because it didn't work anymore, but because the radio reception was abysmal. I hate waking up to a buzzer but I couldn't get any station to come in on this radio. All that time I woke up to static (still better than a buzzer). I finally decided it was time to replace it. I assumed that alarm clocks had come a long way since I bought the other one and that in this age of smart phones, fully customizable alarm clocks would be the norm. WRONG!
I knew what I wanted in an alarm clock: adjustable snooze time, decent sounding radio and 7-day alarm for under $100. That narrowed the field down to about 4 brands. After reading the reviews here at Amazon (special thanks to vertigo_2_20 for the very helpful review) I decided to get the American Innovative Neverlate Executive Alarm Clock.
This is a terrific alarm clock (though not quite perfect). Everything is customizable: the snooze time, what station you wake up to, how long the alarm sounds, and of course, the 7-day alarm. I really like this alarm clock. This another of my "oh yay!" purchases. I've been using it for about 2 weeks now and it performs exactly as I hoped. Good radio reception and it's a nice compact size. It's surprisingly heavy for its size but that's a good thing - it doesn't slide around or fall over when I'm fumbling around with it in the morning (I'm pretty bleary eyed and fuzzy brained when I first wake up). The snooze button is big and easy to find. The display is big too.
Now, for the "meh" things (meaning they wouldn't dissuade me from buying it) about this clock. The first thing is that I can't believe anyone still sells a clock that is not atomic. I know some people set their clocks ahead to trick themselves into thinking they have more time. I do that with my watch. But there at least be the option to use it as an atomic clock. Like other reviewers have said, the dimmest setting for the display is too bright. Strange thing is, if you get more than about 5 feet away from the display it looks very dim. But since I have it right next to my bed, it feels like a searchlight shining in my face at night. Instead of settings, the dimmer should be a continuous slide from 100% on to off. It would help if the face was dark with LED lit characters instead of the bright blue with gray characters (and while we're at it, make the color adjustable - I prefer purple to blue). The knob on top looks clunky. Why can't it pop up to set and then push down to be out of the way? The knobs on the radio in my 1998 vehicle do it. Last, I have a thing for projection clocks. I love them. I like being able to see the time, inside temp, outside temp and all that stuff on the ceiling. It's so convenient. Add a projection function...please, please, please!
All in all, this is a wonderful alarm clock. I am really glad I bought it.
