Chlorine kills germs, and killing germs is good for me; therefore chlorine is good for me. At least, that's the way the thinking goes. But there is this, also: Chlorine damages living cells, and I am living cells; therefore chlorine damages me. But whatever damages me is bad for me; therefore, chlorine is bad for me.
Therefore, chlorine is good and bad for me. Perhaps Machiavelli was right, and nothing is either wholly bad or wholly good.
The way to acquire the benefit of chlorine, yet avoid its harm, is to filter the chlorine out of your water, right at the point of use. It's had its opportunity to kill the germs in your water, and when that water is ready to come out of the showerhead, it's time to filter it out and thereby spare your skin and your lungs the effects of the chlorine and all the chlorinated hydrocarbons they would otherwise have to endure.
I find that for me, the best daily shower regimen is to shower with water dechlorinated by the Aquasana shower filter, wash up with Neutrogena Body Clear body wash, shave with Gillette Complete Skincare Shave Multigel and a Schick Quattro blade, dry off, then pour on some Neutrogena Body Oil (light sesame formula, fragrance free). I wouldn't be surprised if a number of these products are available here at Amazon.com, in which case, you shouldn't leave the store without them.
If you follow that regimen, eat well, get all your vitamins and minerals (especially vitamin D3), and get plenty of sleep, in a few weeks you'll look better and, if you're male, you may save a lot of money on shirts.
