Tools and Hardware Reviews of Shower Filtration System with Handheld Massaging Shower HeadCustomer Review: Replacement filters are very expensive. Summary: 3 Stars
I believe this product is very high quality and does what it is meant to do... but you will pay for it. The replacement filters are Very expensive.
Customer Review: Works good for about 5 weeks Summary: 2 Stars
This is a great shower filter and we mainly bought it for our infant daughter to fill her bath tub. We bought it after seeing a video clip from the Dr. Oz show where he talked about the chlorine in tap water being bad for people, but especially children.
I was very pleased to see that the water pressure did not go down much after we installed this - which is important to me.
UPDATE:
The product worked good for about 5 weeks, then the water pressure went down. By 8 weeks after installation the water pressure was down so much I didn't want to use it anymore. I'm assuming this is happening because the filter is getting used up, however the manufacturer advertises that the filters last 6 months!!
Since then, I've had a water test done on our home and have found that while we do have some "hard water" it is at an average level, no worse than most other places. (we get regular city water, no well water)
I think that the product should not advertise that the filter will last 6 months. I would say that it lasts 2 months at most. And the replacement filters are $52 each, plus taxes and shipping, so that's pretty expensive for something that lasts only 2 months. That's $312 per year on filters alone!!
Customer Review: My Aquasana STINKS....Literally! Help! Summary: 1 Stars
I just installed my Aquasana AQ-4105. IT SMELLS LIKE MELTING VINYL!!
I've been running the water through it for about an hour and a half now and there is still a horrible vinyl-like odor coming from the water. Something from the hose or casing is definitely out-gasing into the filtered water.
I'd hate to think that I believed I was doing something good for my health when in reality I could be showering in water that is more toxic than the unfiltered water I started out with.
Before installation my water had no odor at all. I'm concerned that the Aquasana AQ-4150 is adding some toxic plastic based chemical (benzene?) to the water. I'm surprised that only one other person has mentioned this. My entire apartment smells of this "chemical."
I wish I didn't make this costly improvement to my shower! UGH!!! BLECH!!!
