I'm a veteran horticulturalist, and a dedicated professional organic gardener.
Unfortunately, there are instances where we are FORCED to use chemicals when certain pest problems are out of control and cant be controlled by natural means.
Imidicloprid is basically a synthetic nicotine, and very safe to use if applied properly. I used this product to get an explosion of mealybugs and scale under control, that the last person with my position as head-gardener on a noteworthy private estate did not deal with. They were literally out of control!
I used this product as a soil drench on all the container-grown plants in the greenhouses, at the proper rate of dilution in tepid water.
I also used it as a "bath" which I literally submerged a LARGE orchid collection, one by one, making sure that EVERY part of the plant was wet... soil... leaves... even flower buds and OPEN FLOWERS! Not one single leaf, bud or open flower was harmed or burned!
In only ONE application, I'm happy to report that the scale and mealys were completely... and I mean COMPLETELY... eradicated!
And this was done without harming ONE SINGLE NON-TARGET bug.
I hate to say it, but this is a REALLY GREAT product when you have no organic alternative!
