Tools and Hardware Reviews of Bar Keepers FriendŽ Cleanser & Polish: 12 OZCustomer Review: I think this will clean almost anything! Summary: 5 Stars
I have a thermal coffee carafe that sometimes gets badly stained with coffee oil residue because I can't fit my hand into the opening to scrub it properly. I tried cleaning it with a bottle brush with little success. So I got desperate and tried this product. Incredibly, after scrubbing the inside with this product (again with a bottle brush), I just let it sit on the counter for a while and when I went back to it, I scrubbed it a bit more and the coffee oils loosened right up and I could rinse it clean. This was a tough job that none of my other cleaners could do!
I also regularly use it on my stainless steel cookware with excellent results. I am so impressed with this product that I gave a can to my neighbor to try--it is inexpensive enough to give away. She was thrilled with the results, as she was able to clean up cookware that hadn't looked good in years!
One precaution--I found that I should use rubber gloves when using this product as it was very drying to my skin. That could just be me but I though I should pass it on, just in case. The smell isn't that pleasant, either, but the results are well worth it!
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this cleaner to anyone!
Customer Review: Safe but effective on ceramic cooktops! Yay! Summary: 5 Stars
If you want to save yourself some trouble, get this before you invest in Weiman Products LLC 38 Glass Cooktop Cleaner
or Cerama Bryte Ceramic-Glass Cooktop Cleaner - 28 oz . I can't tell you how many wasted minutes - which eventually added up to hours - I spent using those other products. They'll definitely get off light stains but only the Bar Keepers Friend gets the cooked on messes that you don't manage to wipe up quickly. The result? No scratches, no leftover residue, just a clean cooktop! I have a black cooktop so it shows every smudge but with Bar Keepers Friend I can cook as often as I want and I generally cook very often.
Of course, this product also works to remove rust (try it and see) as well as general house cleaning. Great in toilets as long as you haven't let any lime deposits build up too much between cleanings. If so, I recommend CLR. It even works on stainless steel sinks. For a good, all purpose cleaner for metals and glass cooktops, I highly recommend this product.
Customer Review: Amazing on shower door Summary: 5 Stars
Moved into a house with really bad hardwater stains on the glass shower door. Tried: CLR, Kaboom, Orange stuff, shower cleaners, comet, Mr. Clean magic eraser, fabric softner sheets, goof off, a razor blade.
I even went so far as to try oven cleaner, leaving it on overnight.
Nothing worked. I heard about BKF so I figured I would give it a try. Wet the shower doors, sprinkled the powder on a wet cloth and started rubbing, leaving it on the door for a minute then rinsed it off.
Unbelievable. I would say the door looks about 100% better than it did before. Whereas it used to look like frosted glass it now looks like slightly filmy glass. When the door is wet it looks completely clear. As it dries a slight film is visable. I will go back and do a few more cleanings as i suspect I can get better results. But even if it doesn't totally get rid of the hard water stains it worked well enough that it is money well spent.
I'm going to try it on the rest of the things people listed here.
Update: -went over the shower door one more time. Even better results, door looks almost brand new. This stuff is great.
Customer Review: A must have cleaner for Everything. Summary: 5 Stars
I have used this stuff for many years & ever I can't get a mark off something I try the BCF which for me stands for Best Kept Friend.! ha The everyday thing I use this on most is my Glass Top Cooking stove. It makes cleaning the grime & spill marks without scratching the glass. Then after I rinse it I just keep some vinegar in a spray bottle under the sink & spray it down with that & then paper towel it dry. No streaks at all & best of all no scum or heavy scrubbing to clean it.
Don't waste money on the expensive cream they tell you to buy for glass cooktops, its a lot of work using that & then having to buff it too.!! BCF does a better & faster job for a fraction of the cost at less than $2.00 a tub in most stores with all cleaning supplies.
The list goes on what this is good for, any household cleaning really, Copper bottom pans, it too works great on, I just use a wet sponge or scruby & put a little dish soap on it & then some of the BCF & go to work, Clean & shines in no time.
Something everyone should have under their kitchen sink.
Customer Review: What WON'T this stuff clean? Summary: 5 Stars
Well, OK, you can't take a bath in it or use it on delicate surfaces like finished wood and nonstick cookware, but for just about any hard nonporous material, it's the cleaner to reach for.
It's the Fountain of Youth for your stainless steel cookware, removing rainbow heat marks and mineral discoloration with minimal elbow grease. Used with a lighter touch, it makes your heirloom Corning Ware original Pyroceram cookware sparkle like the day Mom bought it. Ditto for Pyrex and Anchor Hocking glass ovenware, as well as stoneware slow cookers. I use it to clean those little specks off the window in the oven door after a self-cleaning cycle. The window's as clear as the day they delivered the stove.
If you're a fan of unlined copper bowls for beating egg whites, you already know about tarnish. A couple minutes with some Bar Keeper's Friend, and that copper bowl is ready for another batch of meringue or Belgian waffles.
