I have the calphalon contemporary stainless steel cookware and used the smallest sauce pan to make shrimp tempura. The shrimp came out perfectly, but I had all these cooked-on stains on the pan. Soaking the pan did not work, so I purchased Bar Keeper's Friend. I had the reviews earlier and saw that it could be used for other places like the bathroom. Since the shipping was a bit high, I purchased 4 cans.
At first, I thought this was not going to work and used a little elbow grease and a scouring pad. Every single stain was completely removed - inside, outside, rim, and bottom.
Be sure to take a look at the other Amazon stores that carry this product (right side of the page below the 'Add to cart' section) as some stores are a lot more expensive than others.

My husband thinks I occasionally get too excited about products. When I told him that this product was amazing and made a 10 year old pot look new, he was skeptical. So I took another old stained up pot and asked him to watch. I used this on the pot and he actually was impressed. Stains that made a great pot look like a two-dollar garage sale item were gone with this product and just a bit of elbow grease. It just really really works.
If you're thinking of replacing pots or anything else because it looks beat up and stained, just try this first. I have no idea what the chemistry involved here is, but it's incredible.
I used it on stainless steal but also on that gray-coated steel that some pots have.

I found a leaky pen on my white quartz counter top. I pretty much freaked out because I was scared the pen leaked into the quartz and stained it. I quickly rushed to the local store and bought 4 or so counter top cleaners. I tried them all and guess what, Bar Keepers was the only one that did anything. It was quite amazing and I heard by many others that this was great stuff. Even the guys who installed the counter told me they only use this stuff.
I also had water marks on my gray quartz which changed colors to white. I again brought out the Bar Keepers and it did the job. You don't even really need to scrub hard while using this. This stuff is great and is my favorite cleaner for counter tops.

Four years later of continuous use, our all clad frying pan was no longer the pristine silver color when we bought it: ooh said we, it still works brilliantly, just cnat have it out on the stove top when we have vistors. Well, not anymore: this cleanser, with very little effort, scrubbed away those lousy entrenched and well cooked yellow oil splatters. Seriously, this is the most amazing cleaner for such well used and loved pans. We thought we had tried everything. It does not contain phosphates: good for the environment and does not have an odour. We love it and you can get this from william sonoma too. Our old pans now look like new with little elbow grease.

I purchased this based on feedback posted here! WOW, I totally LOVE it. firstly, I used it in my jacuzzi because it had an area that water had settled and left hard water marks. I applied some to a damp cloth and paste it on the area, then used a scotchbrite and applied a little elbow grease, VOILA, in less than one minute, the mark was gone.
I then tackled my stainless steel pots, using the same method, except that I did not have to rub it with a scotchbrite, you should see them looking like the day I purchased them, sparkling new! I LOVE this product and would recommend them to anyone who wants to clean water mark and stainless steel items. LOVE IT
