I installed these Saturday morning in the basement and main floor fireplaces (I have a ranch-style home) and showed them off to my wife. Later that day we were hanging out in the far end of the house and she asked me if I had turned the heat up. I said no, she asked again later, still no - same setting as it had been (66-67 degrees). I checked the thermometer I have at that end of the house, and sure enough, it was 1-2 degrees warmer than it had been. It seems that we must have been losing enough warm air up the chimneys - and drawing enough cold air in - to feel the difference almost instantly. I was skeptical when I bought these that I would notice anything, but what a nice treat to get this much result on the first day.Customer Review: Just got it, but so far its great

So I've lived in my house for about 10 years and have always noticed that my living room is drafty. The house was built in '29 and the chimney doesn't have a flue. So I recently ordered some double pained windows thinking that that might help with the problem (and those were around $5k installed), and then I realized that it was really drafty by the fireplace. So I ordered this thing thinking it might help.
And...it seriously does! Wow, I feel like my house stays about 5 degrees warmer in the winter! Wish I had bought this BEFORE I ordered my new windows.

We bought this item about three weeks ago and it arrived just as our state was hit with frozen, windy weather. After 1 week, it needed readjusting, but we haven't had to touch it since. There is a noticeable difference in the temperature in my family room. I have a large masonry fireplace which I pre-measured ahead of time. This plug was a perfect fit. Certainly it would not work well in anything smaller. It fit well just below my damper and I didn't have to cut a hole for the damper handle. Batic Door Energy Conservation ... I purchased two fireplace pillows from this firm. From order to receipt took 3 days. Installation was as easy as the instructions said it would be. One of them failed. I sent an email to Batic and within one day, the replacement was on my doorstep. I installed it, same day, and it is holding up and working just fine. I just put this in my chimney, and I have noticed an immediate difference. I used to be able to feel a draft when I was near the fireplace, but now I feel nothing. I haven't seen a utility bill since I put it in, but I'm sure that it is going to pay for itself pretty quickly. There is really no other option besides this or something like it to block the chimney off, so I highly recommend this.
