I picked this up for doing crown molding on wood cabinets and it works great. Inside and outside miters come out perfect for molding that can't be painted. Everyone who has seen my cabinets wants to know how I got such perfect cuts that didn't need to be filled. The other secrets are quality fine tooth blade and slow cutting to avoid any tear-out.
So far I've cut up to 6" molding on my 12" miter saw with no issues. For the guy who had issues with 5" molding on his 10" saw, it's not the jig's fault.

This tool worked great for me. I'm a competent do-it-yourselfer, but didn't like crown moulding because of the hassle of using a compound miter saw and screwing up the angles. This tool and a borrowed nail gun made the job a snap. The pictures made it easy to make sure I was making the right cut and the box was easy to position to place the cut in exactly the right place. My husband and I have never had any carpentry classes and we tried to cut crown molding with our miter saw, but every try was a disaster. This little jig greatly improved our ability to get our joints fairly close. We did need to do some caulking, but the painted job looks great.
If you are a beginner and don't have a professional to guide you, we recommend this little jig.

I used the bench dog to cut crown molding for cabinets. Once adjusted, the bench dog holds the molding at the correct angle (the guides on the saw were not high enough to do this). It ensures that every piece of molding is held at the same angle when cutting. This item was well worth the price. I was new to this crown molding stuff and making a lot of firewood until I bought this product. After a short learning curve, no more mistakes !! I would recommend watching a few videos on YouTube while your waiting for it to be delivered and after that just follow the directions on the unit and have fun. Lou
