Tools and Hardware Reviews of Bionaire BW2300 Twin Window Fan with Remote Control

Customer Review: Quiet, quality
Summary: 5 Stars

This fan is quiet and nice-looking, and seems to be quality construction. On low-speed, it's quieter and moves more air than my older window-fan or the Honeywell HW-628 Enviracaire Twin Window Fan I tried and returned in favor of this Bionaire. The noise level is about the same as my floor-standing Vornado fans. The Bionaire doesn't have the cheap/flimsy plastic-y feel fo the Honeywell.

Medium-speed is reasonably quiet also, and the fan direction can be reversed without stopping the unit.

The remote is well-designed and seem to just work (I didn't have to keep pressing the buttons repeatedly like I have to on cheap units).

Quibbles: the price is higher than most window fans. The thermostat stays lit (red digits) even when the fan is off (but plugged in). You can't run just one of the 2 fans for ultra-quiet usage.

Some complaints here centered on the unit's thermostat being inaccurate. I don't think it's unusual for a thermostat exposed directly to sunlight to be inaccurate, but since I don't use the temperature settings, this doesn't matter to me either way.

Highly recommended.

Customer Review: Reliable and care-free fan
Summary: 5 Stars

I've purchased these before and love them.
I like to keep my home cool and cannot stand stagnant air and this fan is perfect. It's temperature sensor is very convenient, it turns on when it gets too warm then off when it's cooler. Some reviewers mention they don't like it because its not accurate but I think that's not a big deal. Once you play with the settings then have it set, it's very reliable. When the sun faces the window we blow air out and when the shade sets we set it to blow in.
I've tried a window air conditioner before but I don't care much for it as it gets too cold and messes up my sinuses when I go in and out of my house. My brother had the same problem with his family so I gave him one of mine as I had two; one for our bedroom and the other for the living room. He now loves it and did away with his air conditioner.
I tried looking for a replacement but cannot find a window fan that has a temperature sensor, bi-direction air flow, and a remote. So I've ordered one through Amazon and should be expecting it soon.
I've had the Bionaire fans for over 2 years now and have had no problems other than friends and family wanting it.

Customer Review: Good quality window unit
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased two of these and am considering purchasing two more. In my opinion this fan offers some nice functions, and does everything it promises to. I think some reviewers are disappointed it is not a $50 air conditioner, but you have to rate it on what it was meant to do. In our region the temperatures dip in the evening, and this fan does a great job of pulling in that nice cool air. During the day you can reverse directions of the blades with the push of a button, and "exhaust" the hot air that is inside the house. To the extent the outside temp is similar to the inside temp that might not offer too much relief, bit again, the fan offers the function and performance it promises. I also find it offers a nice range of speeds, that it is quiet, and that the remote is quite useful.

We used to live in the Carolinas, and I will say I don't think having this fan would have been too beneficial there, sine the outside temp was unrelenting from May-September. However, if you are in a climate where a window fan will work for you, I think you will find this a nice choice.

Customer Review: I really LOVE the remote control
Summary: 5 Stars

I've been running this fan for a week. This is the only window fan I found that came with a remote control. It compares pretty well with all the other Holmes and Honeywell competitors with adjustable speeds, the ability to adjust fan direction electronically, and an adjustable thermostat. But the main selling point is the ability to do all of this while sitting at my desk or lying on the bed. One little gripe is that the on/off button on the remote control sticks a little and sometimes skips a few settings as a result of it, but I got the hang of making it not stick when I press it.

The noise level is quite acceptable to me especially at the lowest setting. It blows very smoothly. My previous cheap window fan spun like an F-15 engine at the lowest setting, and I had to turn it around to change the fan direction, so this new fan is a godsend. I hope it holds up during the blistering hot summer days.

One other thing - it also makes an excellent air freshner when you set the fan to blow the air out or on air exchange mode. I'll be selling my Honeywell air filter.

Customer Review: Great cooling job......
Summary: 5 Stars

I lived in New Haven, CT and the humidity is awful and unbearable! I don't have any AC in my house and just relied on his fan to cool my little computer room, which usually get stuffy and hot since the air circulation is not that good even with the door open. I have had this for a week now and have used it when we had the hotest day last week and being able to regulate it to the desired temperature to cool and having the capability to choose IN, OUT, EXCHANGE is a wonderful feature! I was able to cool the room in no time at all. I did't have this unit for a long time, therefore, I do not know how it will deliver and function when the weather really gets "HAZY, HOT, and HUMID" We'll see. So far, so good. Will keep you posted. The only thing I wish that you would do is make a smaller frame so that it will fit into smaller windows, like 18-23" width! That would be nice. The newer house windows are a lot smaller than the Colonial houses! Just a suggestion for futue production! Other than that, it's easy to install and looks attractive.
