Tools and Hardware Reviews of Bionaire BW2300 Twin Window Fan with Remote Control

Customer Review: I LOVE this fan!!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

After reading a lot of the reviews I almost decided against purchasing this fan. I am glad I looked at some of the dates on the reviews, they were quite old! So, I figured that the problem with the thermostat would surely be fixed by now (2010) and, lo and behold, IT IS!!! I live in Chicago and we have some brutal summers and I don't have air-conditioning so this fan runs day and night 24/7! It hasn't skipped a beat since I put it up the day I bought it! It does everything it is supposed to and actually exceeded my expectations! To boot, it's quite handsome and doesn't look obtrusive in my bedroom window. My favorite feature is the remote control...you can handle ALL of the working features right from your bed, but if you set the thermostat correctly you won't even have to use it because it will go up and down according to the temperature you set it for (your comfort zone). This is a very quiet fan too, so it won't wake you in the middle of the night while "it's doing it's thing"...as my review title states...I LOVE THIS FAN!!!

Customer Review: GREAT FAN!
Summary: 5 Stars

I just got mine today from costco and this is an excellent window fan. I live in a 3 floor townhouse and when it is hot like today, the heat gets trapped in the house and then moves to the 3rd floor where the bedrooms are. So during the night, it is like 69 degrees outside as I type this, the 3rd floor would be like 80 degrees EVEN with the windows open. We just don't get good air circulation/breeze. I don't want to turn on the AC because the first and second floors are fine and it is 69 degrees outside. So I placed this window fan in the window and it LITERALLY is blowing cool air from the outside. I can feel the difference. I cannot believe I didn't discover this before. I will use the central AC when we need it but for nights like this when the outside is cool, there is no need for the central AC. This cool fan is like a makeshift window AC. The remote is a nice bonus too! OH and BTW I will be going back and getting a second one tomorrow for the other bedroom.

Customer Review: Great cooling fan...
Summary: 5 Stars

I live in Orange County, California, near the beach, so the air is generally cool outside. The sun warms the inside of the house, so the trick is getting the cool air into the warm house. This fan is great for that.

NOISE: There are three speeds. Low and medium are fairly quiet. High is louder.
AIRFLOW DIRECTION: There are three options- BOTH IN, BOTH OUT or EXCHANGE (one fan in, one fan out). The only mode that really cools the room is BOTH IN, but it works well (it works even better if you open the bedroom door so there is no resistance to airflow).
SETUP: installation was easy, but note that you have to have a narrow window that slides up and down, because there is presumably no way to fit it into a tall window that slides sideways.

I recommend this product. The only caveat is that I have only had it for a few days, so I have no idea if it will be durable. The five year warranty gives some comfort.

Customer Review: Great fan
Summary: 5 Stars

I've been using this in my bedroom during the hot summer months (I live in a second floor apartment so it gets HOT during the day). This fan has been great, very quiet, I'm able to keep it running all night without it disturbing my sleep. The remote is very handy and works as expected. I read all the reviews about the temp gauge reading temperatures that are hotter than the actual air temperature, but I didn't think that would be an issue, I have a thermostat right outside my bedroom door, so if I really need to see the air temp I can walk the extra 10 feet. Howeever, I was pleasantly surprised to see that it actually reads the correct temperature no matter how long I keep it on (and it's on almost 24/7). Not sure if they changed something in the design of it or I just got lucky, but it always reads within 1-2 degrees of my thermostat, so that was a nice added bonus. Overall I'm very happy happy with this fan.

Customer Review: 3 chairs (no waiting) to Wayne-in-Seattle!
Summary: 5 Stars

Wayne-in-Seattle, thanks so much! Not only were your instructions (from 2004-10-30) clear and simple, but they actually worked. With your guidance, I have turned my Bionaire fan into a Porsche. Well, not exactly a Porsche, but at least it is now a somewhat accurate thermometer as well as a top-notch, incredibly quiet, window fan.

I had the good fortune to get this fan as a warranty replacement from Holmes for a different fan that they had sold me online. Holmes originally tried to get me to pay them shipping charges for that piece of junk (HAWF-2021), even though it had conked out within a few months of purchase. This Bionaire is ten times as good as the Holmes - stronger, quieter, and it works.

Re window fans in general, I've had great luck with Lakewood, Lasko, and, now, Bionaire. My advice: avoid Holmes like the Plague.
