Customer Review: The answer to our problem Summary: 4 Stars
My boss has one in her office that works great - one tank full of water will last the work day...haven't had any problems with it for two years now. So I bought one for our bedroom, and ended up putting it in our daughters room to replace something different that had failed - this unit performs and does exactly what it says it will do.
At first I had trouble with it not coming back on after it shut itself off overnight (had to unplug it to reset internally). I've learned that if I manually shut it off in the morning, after it has run its tank dry, it will come on without any trouble when we fill it up again for the next night. It has run flawlessly for several months using it nearly every night. We like it so well, we're considering buying another one for our small bedroom. I am surprised to read all of the negative reviews here - the two units that I have used work as described.
Pros - no filters, and the tank is easy to fill in small sinks. It's quiet, and the blue light in our daughters room dubs as a night light. One tank of water gets us through a night, and its simple to use.
Cons - haven't experienced any negatives.
Customer Review: A little pricey but nice for a small room Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this unit a replacement for my Bionaire CM1 which fried after several years of use. This machine seems a little better constructed than that one, although the price has also increased considerably. I paid about $30 for the older unit.
Pros:
-No filter to clean/replace
-Quiet operation
-Sharp design
-Easily disassembles for cleaning
Cons:
-Pricier than the earlier model
-Tank is not very large (lasts about 10 hours)
Customer Review: small humidifier Summary: 3 Stars
Seems to do its job; used for a medium sized bedroom and the room is not overly humid when the tank is emptied. It is a small humidifier so the water tank will run out before 12 hours (as advertised). A clunky design element is the fact that if the tank runs out (as it usually does since it is my son's room overnight), you have to unplug the unit for ten minutes to reset it before it can be used again. If the water tank does not empty, you can simply turn the unit off and refill the tank. I also do not care for how much light it emits; we have placed electrical tape over most of the UV light which makes the unit ugly but functional. I do like the smallish size and how it is quiet. I clean it weekly and there is gunk on the unit; we do have hard water. There was more gunk than expected given the UV-light purpose; but the UV light does not kill what gets inside the unit core.
Customer Review: eh, it's ok Summary: 3 Stars
I disliked the fact that the water container only holds 7-8 hrs worth of water. The mist is very fine, and most definitely not good for a large room.
