Customer Review: I Love My Bissell Steam Mop!

I love this thing! I've had a stock of mops, buckets, stinky cleaning solutions and the like, cluttering up a closet and mostly going unused. All of them are now gone! I even borrowed the Hoover Floormate from a friend but decided it wasn't for me (too loud, too big, and too expensive.)I have about 400 sq. feet of very textured ceramic tile and no matter how much I would try to wring out a mop, there was always excess water/cleaning solution left on the floor which I would then need to wipe up with towels. If my options were to do this...or nothing...I usually did nothing. No more! I give the floor a quick vacuum with my Dirt Devil Breeze canister and then start up the steam mop. About halfway through, I swap out the mop head for a fresh one. The floor dries in just a few minutes and there is no longer that sticky residue or smell from solutions. If you have grout, you're always going to need to do some occasional elbow work on it but for everyday cleaning this is great.
Assembly is a snap. As others have said, get extra mop heads (2 are included and I purchased 4 extra)...use caution, they are cotton and will shrink in the dryer (I give them a hot wash with soap and bleach then hang to dry.) Consider using distilled water if you have the hard stuff coming out of your tap. And, it will take you a few minutes to learn to "drive" the Steam Mop but after you get the hang of it, you'll love it too.

My Bissell Steam Mop arrived two days ago, while I was at work. My nearly-eighteen year-old son was the first one to open the box, and read the instruction manual. When I got home, I couldn't believe how excited he was about a household appliance (or, at least one that didn't make food). He has been earning a little pocket money as my housekeeper this summer, but believe me when I tell you that cleaning is his job, NOT his passion. I could hardly believe it when he decided to mop the kitchen floor that evening in order to try it out. I had gone to my room for a short rest, and I had barely settled in when he came bounding up the stairs to show me the dirty mop pad as proof of how much dirt he had cleaned off the floor with the new steam mop. Not only was I amazed at all the dirt that was removed, but I was especially impressed with the very short amount of time it took to do it. The very next day my son used the mop on one of the bathroom floors, and was pleased with how well he could manuever in such a small space. I just love the fact that my home is being cleaned in such an efficient manner without the use of any chemicals to get our allergies going. I also like the fact that the mop pads go into the washer, instead of into the trash (and on to the landfill). This is the best mop ever. I have absolutely hated to mop my whole life. Now that I have 3 children, a messy husband and a dog, I hate it even more. My floors usually are terrible because both my babies love to throw their food, drinks and anything else within their reach on the floor. Then my dog has a bladder problem and my husband can't figure out how to take his muddy boots off OUTSIDE! I'm actually a clean freak and have to have everything bleached and antibacterialized (is that a word?) However, mopping has been my achilles heel.I have mopped my floor four times as often since I received this blessed piece of machinery. I have tried the regular mop and bucket, the swiffer, and the ready mop. I have to get on my hands and knees to finish the job with the regular mop and I've bent and broken the handles on the other two because I have to scrub so hard to get the baby food and dried milk off the floor. However, all of that is behind me now. I have mopped every other day for the last two weeks since I bought this mop. Best $70.00 I've ever spent. My floors shine they are so clean and they feel great! Plus I don't have to worry about the germs and the harsh smells that bother my asthma. IT IS WONDERFUL!! Buy one you won't be sorry.
foot note: sometimes you do have to pick up a little fuzz afterwards but still a hundred times easier than the old fashioned way.

with a household of 6, we see some serious dirt! we have ceramic tiling in most of our downstairs and it gets filthy! with young children we have big messes-and i HATE to mop, but i do have to clean it, eventually. i saved one of those eventual times for when i received my steam mop-just to see how well it would do. i am totally impressed!! this thing got up stuck on dried food-dirt-everything! and yes even more so then a reg mop. usually i have to scrub on hands and knees to get most anything stuck on, but with this i just steamed over a stuck on spot for a few secs and it came right up! just for an example-we have a dried baby cereal spot that has been there for months-that stuff is like concrete and nothing will take it up! i have tried soaking, scrubbing, scraping-all to no avail! then i held the steam mop over it for about 15 secs and most of it came up! the only thing i would recommend is getting the replacement pads when you buy it. they will get saturated with water-which is ok-it just takes longer to dry, and for the area i mopped -i really needed to change it for each room. i love the fact that when i take the pads off when i am finished that they are almost too hot too touch! boy do we feel clean! hope this helps anyone thinking about buying one of these!Customer Review: Makes Cleaning Floor tile a snap

This product is very simple to use. Attach a cleaning pad, put some water in the detachable tank, turn it on and in 30 seconds you are ready to go. ( like any heated item using water e.g. steam iron---if your water is hard--use distilled water)
It is very lightweight, the correct length with a comfortable handle and steam trigger. Bissel must have thought this one through from a practicality view-----amazing--they provided an electric cord that is long enough to do an entire avverage size room without tugging at the plug and yanking it from the wall outlet.
For deep cleaning--can't beat steam--and this baby puts out a heck of a lot of steam------although the water tank holds maybe a pint of water-----the steam keeps on coming for about 20-30 minutes---enough to do a good job on an entire room.
Bissel even thought of providing a hook to screw into a wall for storing this thing when you are done.
Makes cleaning a snap, and after cleaning you have no chemical smell or pine or the other smells associated with floor cleaners.
I'm glad I bought it --especially since my house has about 2000 square feet of textured floor tile---once over with this machine and the floor is spotless---and sanitary.
