While the SpotBot will not take the place of a full-size carpet cleaner, it is a wonderful tool for the small messes, especially pet-related ones. By the time you get the full size cleaner out and ready, you could have been done with the SpotBot.
I was a bit concerned about ordering a remanufactured one, but it looks brand new. Came with a full size bottle of the Oxy cleaner (not the trial size) plus a trial size of the general cleaner.
One thing to keep in mind is that the motor on this is only 3 amp (vs 10 to 12 for a full size cleaner) so it does not have a super strong suction. It's effective, but the carpet will be left damp when you're done. You can minimize this by using the hand wand after the main brush is done to get more liquid out, or use a towel to blot up the excess moisture. It does not leave the carpet soaking wet, but it will be damp when done.
I find it best to put the cleaning solution directly on the stain/mess, and use just clean water in the water dispensing container. Seems to work better and uses less cleaning solution.
Haven't tried it out in the car yet, but this should be perfect for cleaning up messes there as well.
As with any carpet cleaner, be sure to test a small section first to see how the carpet reacts to the cleaning solution. Several of the reviews point to issues that are not the fault of the machine, but rather how the carpet itself reacts to certain cleaning solutions.
The only difficulty I've had is in cleaning the waste water container. Hard to flush it out -- a access hole on the side would be nice, provided it could be made water tight. It's workable as-is, but cleaning the container takes more time than it should.
I'll give it 5 stars, but 4.5 would be a more accurate rating.

I've had this for about a week, and I'm very impressed. I purchased this unit specifically (with a lot of hope and faith) to handle existing dirt stains in high traffic areas of the house. I began to clean some of what I considered the worst spots with the highest setting. After the 6 minute cycle time, the worst of what I had were almost totally cleaned. I give the "almost" because of the one caveat of this device: stains are typically unbecoming, but this unit creates "anti-stains". These are circular areas of very clean carpet that will immediately let you know just how dirty your whole carpet is as a whole, and may indicate to you that you will need multiple uses of the Spotbot, or that you may need to consider renting/hiring a professional cleaner! So after I dealt with the surrounding grime, I quickly found that even the surface stain (3 minute cycle) easily dealt with any dirt problems I had. I really like the fact that I can place it in position and walk away for a few minutes. The unit is noisy, but I don't consider this a problem seeing that I would only use it in specific circumstances and the benefits far outweigh the noise. I have used this unit around 40-50 times now with no leaks. As a refurbished unit, I find this affordable as well as reliable so far...Customer Review: Where has this been all my pet-owning life????

I rarely gush about an item-but this little machine is fantastic! I kept looking at them for about a year until I saw the remanufactured version on Amazon at a more reasonable price than I had seen elsewhere. First I was pleasantly surprised that they shipped me the "Pet" version of the Spot Bot. Is there a difference between the regular one and this one? I imagine just the color and the cool paw print sticker, but I dig it since they are the main reason for my purchase. I have 3 dogs and a cat. We live on a farm, so lets just say them hurling is an occurence that happens more often than not, and of course usually in the middle of the night when you least want to clean them up. My first test was a couple of stains set in the rugs when we bought the house-used the set in stain setting-and they were gone. Yes, it did leave the clean "crop circle" where the stain was, but I knew I needed to shampoo them anyway. Several nights later-you guessed it-at 4am Riley got ill. I cleaned up the "bulk" of I and just went back to bed trusting my new favorite helper would be successful in the morning. It was. The machine is loud, and the dogs hate the beep at the end of the cycle-but you won't regret the purchase!Does go through cleaner, but I don't care and you won't either...Customer Review: Love it!

I ordered this remanufactured SpotBot because I was having new carpet installed, a very light color, and I have 4 grandkids, 2 dogs, and 2 cats. The cats sometimes throw up hairballs, the basset hound sometimes a yellow bile stuff, and it is the WORST. That yellow is just impossible to get out of carpet. So....... of course the carpet hadn't been in a week and Puddin Pie puked yellow bile. So I got out the SpotBot and let it work. It got it out. One time made it worth the machine cost!!!! I was thrilled! So I went to work on some old spots on the older carpets in the house. Everything from grease on beige berber from my greasemonkey 21 year old son to dried, old chocolate milk in a corner of his bedroom. (Aren't they SLOBS?) Got it all out. Sometimes it took a few passes, but I'm really happy with it. I should note, I use the OXY cleaner and just some mild general cleaning stuff, sometimes the OXY and a little regular carpet cleaner. Always the OXY tho. The machine is easy to use, fill, and empty. A joy overall.Customer Review: thank God for SpotBot

I had this many years ago brand new and it worked wonderfully, with 3 dogs and 4 cats in the house, it was used FREQUENTLY. never had a problem. I live with only two cats now and needed to buy a new one and got this refurbished one about a month ago, it was seemingly brand new and clean and works perfectly, I have had to use it many times already. It performs as it is supposed to, as I knew it had in the past. So I am very satisfied with this and with my one cat who is bulemic and likes to binge and purge on the carpet, I constantly use it. I also buy the big bottles of Resolve or other good yet much less expensive carpet cleaning solutions. I am not sure what the difference is with the newer blue "Pet" SpotBot, or if the red "Heat" SpotBot is worth the extra few dollars but I couldn't beat this price on this refurbished unit and I hope there are no problems like some other people are reporting, I myself have had good luck with Bissel products and would defintely recommend this. I am super happy to have my SpotBot back.
