Customer Review: AMAZING MACHINE - Couldn't Survive Puppyhood Without it!
Summary: 5 Stars

I really LOVE this machine!! We are trying hard to house train our puppy, but quite frankly we have had a LOT of accidents, and inevitably when he poops in the house it is a rather wet consistency (YUCK!). What AMAZES me most is that, even when I clean the stain thoroughly by hand using traditional foam carpet cleaner and brush it out so it looks fine, the Spot Bot can still get a TON more yucky stuff out of the deep fibers of the rug. Our rugs are less than a year old, yet the dirty water tank pulls out dark brown water even after it looks to the eye like the stain has been thoroughly cleaned up by hand. This means it also gets out ALL the smell and there are no lingering odors.

BIGGEST PROS: really deep, deep cleaning; eliminates all lingering odors and leaves fresh smell; incredibly easy and convenient - just set it on the stain and walk away (no elbow grease and you don't have to put on rubber gloves and scrub at nasty smelly poo poo!); this thing really works great!

MINOR CONS: the OxyClean stuff can be expensive (I just squirt a little directly on difficult spots before running the machine rather than mixing so much of it into the tank); machine beeps incessantly once cycle finishes to tell you it is done cleaning; leaves a clean wet spot that can take a little while to dry (with area rugs, you can flip rug up so dries faster and doesn't damage hardwood floors underneath).

I never ever take the time to write product reviews and am not easily impressed by household appliances. But this little machine works so well that I felt I had to write about it!! I definitely do not see how anyone can survive puppy training without one!

Customer Review: Great for pet owners
Summary: 5 Stars

We have 6 adult (shedding) cats. Four of them have long hair. We also have 4 kittens who are learning the fine art of using the litter box. Thankfully, they have almost mastered this vital skill! (And yes, I know that 10 cats is a little much.

My point is, we frequently have hairballs or worse on the carpet. Lots of spots. Of various colors and liquids, and occasionally we don't find them until they have dried.

The SpotBot is the most wonderful cleaning machine EVER! For the spots on the floor (carpet and wood laminate) we put water and cleaner in the tank, put the brush part over the spot, hit the button, and walk off. It makes enough noise to scare the kitties away, but it's not bad for the humans. When it's done, you pick it up, and there's a damp hickey on the floor, but no unwanted liquids. If you scuff the spot with your shoe, the carpet pile stops looking like a hickey. Since the SpotBot sucks up most of the liquid, it dries quickly.

There is also a hose for when a kitty has an accident on the sofa or the stairs. There's a little more effort involved in cleaning up the spot (you can't walk away) but it still cleans up quickly and easily.

This works a lot better if you pick up any chunks before using the machine. If the stain has dried, sometimes you have to run the machine twice to get it all, though if the spot is still damp you don't have to run it more than once. (Hint - if it's really dry, wet the stain down a bit first.)

This works REALLY well and I would recommend it to anyone who has pets or young children. It's easy to use. I'd give it 10 stars if I could.

Customer Review: Great and easy to use carpet cleaner
Summary: 5 Stars

We frequenty have dogs in the house (we are the family pet baby sitters) and when you take a dog away from it's normal house and routine they tend to have accidents.

This carpet cleaner has been a solution to our problems. My husband whose pet accident cleaning abilities amounted to throwing a paper towel over it and putting a heavy object ontop of that to soak up urine...now can simply put the machine over the spot and walk away...with much better results.

Everyone is happier. The machine makes a bit of noise operating but does a better job then we could in removing any stains. The area is slightly wet after the machine runs - but dries fairly quickly. The machine is easy to use, has labels on the liquid containers to allow for easy measuring of any cleaning agents...and overall is actually semi-amusing to watch as it cleans. The first couple weeks of having it I think we actually looked forward to cleaning up spills and accidents.

Overall I would highly recommend it. We have had no problems with leaks of any kind and it seems to be built pretty well. I wouldn't say it uses up solution fast or slow - I think we got about 4 deep clean run cycles out of the trial sizes that came with the product. I will say the directions with the product don't specify using HOT water - but that makes a huge difference with results. Overall - it has been able to remove a 2 year old cat pee stain in our rug, as well as several other fairly old (3+ months) stains from the last dog sleepover.

Great product for those with husbands like mine - or for those that don't have time to spend scrubbing a rug!

Customer Review: Works great
Summary: 5 Stars

It's been great at removing pet stains! The actual cleaning area is around 8" so it's definitely a "spot" bot. It will absolutely go to town on troublesome stains before you freshen up an entire room with an upright. This is small, fast, and convenient. I don't mind bringing it out for a quick clean up whereas I wouldn't have bothered dragging out my Hoover upright.

If you're carpet is dirty in general, you are going to have a lot of "clean circles" from using it. If your have to, rent or buy an upright to clean everything well then use this for the little stuff. It does leave the area wetter than I'd like however it's about the same as my upright so it's far from a deal breaker.

The clean and dirty water containers are somewhat flexible. The tanks on my Hoover upright are a rigid, hard plastic that could easily break from a drop at waist height. It's a small thing but something to consider.

Be sure and rinse the lid of the clean tank after each use. The cleaners can dry out the rubber gasket over time.

If I was looking for an improvement it would be a 10 or 12" cleaning area. One very minor improvement would be the clean water tank. It is shaped like a quarter of a circle which looks nice aesthetically however when filling it you have to hold it in one hand while the other controls the faucet for water, filling with cleaning solution, and adding the Oxy clean stuff for wine stains and such. If it was flat on top it could be set on the counter upside down freeing up both hands to unscrew the cleaning bottles for filling and such.

Customer Review: Great product overall

To say it bluntly, I bought this because our German Shorthair Pointer took a huge dump on a brand new light colored carpet. I removed everything I could and then used the SpotBot with the cleaning solution and water set to the "set in stain" mode. I did not use a pre-treatment. It cleaned up most of it but did not completely remove the stain/mark. One problem is that since the carpet is still damp afterwards, you have to wait until the next day to really see if the mark is still there. It would be nice if they had a carpet drying feature. So the next day I first sprayed on some Resolve and then used water, cleaning solution, and "Oxy Gen 2" (some kind of peroxide-based stain remover). An Oxy Gen 2 sample came with the SpotBot. The solution tank is labeled so you can easily use the correct proportions of Oxy Gen 2, cleaner and water. The second time around the stain was removed. We did have to work the carpet with our feet to make the fibers all go in the same direction; the SpotBot leaves the fibers tilted in all different directions from the scrubbing.

Although not 100% perfect this thing is definitely worth it. I think using a pre-treatment and that Oxy Gen 2 solution will get out most stains. If the mess is discovered quickly enough just water and solution would probably work. Being able to press a button and walk away while the thing scrubs and vacuums is awesome. The brush/vacuum/spinning component that scrubs the carpet is much less complicated than something like Roomba, so I do not foresee tons of maintenance problems down the road. Overall, I highly recommend this product.
