Customer Review: Great vac for pet hair and sand on hardwood and tile
Summary: 5 Stars

WE have pets and live near a beach with "sugar" sand dunes. Carpet is out of the question, but in the summer during beach season the dog hair and beach sand pile up regardless. We needed a vac that could get in under the kitchen cabinets and around the fireplace and furniture. The unique shape of the "V" does the trick on our hard surface floors. It's lightweight, and easily stores in the broom closet as a "stick vac" which is what we were looking for.

It's NOT very good on carpet. Period. That's just not it's strength. If you are looking for one vac to do all your floors, look elsewhere. At this price, though, I think it's worth having this one tool just for your hard surface floors.

Also note that our dogs have a short and medium wire coat, so I can't speak to how the vac would work on lots of long pet hair. Some of the other reviewers have had issues with hair clogging the vac; we haven't experienced that with our pets, but it may be an issue with longer haired animals.

My past experience has been that inexpensive vacuums tend to quit working after a year, so I purchased an extended warranty. Sure enough, after using it at least once a week for about 10 months, the vac lost suction. We called Bissell who walked us through the process of cleaning a filter we didn't even know was there! Oops! Guess we should have read the manual. But no worries; we washed out the spongy filter as directed, dried it, and the vac now works great again. We didn't even have to tap into the original mfg. warranty, and still have the extention ahead of us if we need it.

But for now, we're completely happy again. For us, this vac does an outstanding job of keeping on top of day to day pet hair, and I highly recommend it. I don't think you can beat it for the price.

Customer Review: 2200 sq ft of hard floors
Summary: 5 Stars

While out of town on business in January, I saw the Versus on an infomercial. Since our home is about 3500 sq feet and all of it is hard surface floors except the bedrooms (oak, marble, travertine and slate)I was excited about what was being demonstrated. At that time we were using an industrial size dust mop for cleaning, along with a broom and dust pan. I could never quite get all of the dirt which was very evident when my microfiber mop was still picking up the bits and pieces after a thorough cleaning. I had used a light-weight stick vacuum in the past with extremely disappointing results. I called and ordered from my hotel room based on the TV demonstration.

I used the vacuum immediately and was thrilled with the results. Like the infomercial, I even put coins on the floor and they vacuumed right up.

After 5 months of use I have no complaints. It is so much easier to use than the multiple cleaning items we used previously. It is very light weight and easy to maneuver. My 9 year-old son now ASKS if he can vacuum! We have sand and gravel on our property as well and the Versus does a terrific job cleaning up what gets tracked inside. The baseboards are not a problem because the edge of the V fits perfectly against the baseboard and sucks it all up. I mop now with the assurance that I won't be picking out left behind particles from the microfiber of my mophead.

The other thing that I love is using this on the travertine and slate. These are uneven surfaces and so hard to sweep clean before. The suction in the Versus is powerful enough to tackle the uneven floor and get every bit of sand, dust or cookie crumbs.

This is a wonderful product and the price makes it even better!

Customer Review: Dogs, Cats and Sand are NO match!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I've read reviews on this item for a long time and didn't get it previously because I lived in a house that was both carpet and linoleum. However, I am now living in a rental house that has all linoleum floors, a dog door for my 2 dogs and a very sandy yard. I found that I was having to sweep at least once or twice a day. I also have a long-haired black cat whose litter box I am now keeping in the bathroom. When I saw that a discount store was carrying re-manufactured Versus for less than $25, I knew it was time to at least try it. I was NOT disappointed!!! This thing is a lifesaver!! As noted by previous reviewers, the cord could be longer, but my little rental house is small enough that I can plug into one outlet and do the living/dining room, kitchen, hall, bathroom and most of the 2 bedrooms (like I said, it's a small house). It does an awesome job! It did take a little getting used to with the v-shaped head and the balance is different from other larger carpet vacuums, but it gets easier every time I use it. It also does a good job on the utility carpet I have at the back dog door, but not on the bathroom rug. But then again, it is supposed to be a bare-floor cleaner. I also love the easy to empty cup. My last cordless was very difficult to empty, but then again, had nowhere near the power that this little Versus does. I also love that instead of chasing the cat-hair tumbleweeds, it actually pulls them into the v-shape and takes care of them very easily. And cat litter is no match at all for this thing. All in all, I love this item and don't regret for a minute taking a chance in it, even if it was re-manufactured!!

Customer Review: Where's the beef?
Summary: 5 Stars

I first used this vacuum when visiting my daughter. She has tile floors in her kitchen and dining room with two young boys to provide the crumb mess and parents to provide the food prep mess. Over the three week visit, I used the vacuum everyday to clear the floor of crumb mess and very small food. It worked wonderfully.

When I got home and saw my tile and linoleum floors and the dirt constantly tracked in from the back door and the crumb mess from our other grandchild, I decided we needed this vacuum as well. I almost didn't buy it because of the negative reviews concerning this item, but then I remembered how well it worked at my daughter's home. I bought it.

When the vacuum arrived, I assembled it and went to start it up, but remembered from the reviews that the cardboard plug had to be removed and also the picture in the vacuum container (Bissell, if you read these reviews, the instuctions need to say "Remove the cardboard plug at the intake hole and the picture in the container before starting the vacuum" as part of the assembly instructions). Without the customer review that warned of these steps, I would have had a bad experience with this vacuum.

Anyway, I fired her up and wham, bam, thank you Ma'am my floor was cleaned of dirt and crumbs. It was much easier than sweeping the floor. Does the vacuum fall over and does the "V" suction head lift off the floor?... yes, it does, but with understanding the equipment's "personality", I change my behavior to use its "shortcomings" to my advantage.

I like this product and I'm a guy... an old guy.

Customer Review: YES! I love my hardwood floors again.
Summary: 5 Stars

I love this vacuum. I have hardwood throughout my house. The old fashioned dust mop just doesn't do much for dust and pet hair on hardwood, mostly just pushes it around or distributes it through the air. Awhile back I bought a cordless sweeper that uses the disposable dust cloths but the battery didn't last long enough and buying all those cloths, ugh! After seeing this vacuum demonstrated on t.v., I checked out prices and reviews online and decided, for $49.95, I could take a risk. I am well pleased with its performance. I actually conducted an 'accidental' comparison between my dust mop and the Versus. About an hour before this was delivered, I swept with my dust mop. Of course, as with all new toys, I had to play with the new Bissell ,so I put it together (takes a couple minutes) and used it on the same areas I had just swept manually. I could not believe how much dust and pet hair it picked up from the floors I thought I had just cleaned! It cleans edges and corners well, I like the 'wings' of the v-shape because I can slip one side under the edge of my area rugs and pick up the dirt that collects there without having to roll the edes of the rug up to sweep. I appreciate the hose with crevice tool feature. That's one of the things I like about my other Bissell vacuum cleaner. I appreciate that Bissell included it on this machine. It takes a little practice moving the vacuum. The v- head is quite agile, which is good, that's why it's so effective, but at first, it seems awkward. I have already recommended it to several of my friends who have hardwood.
