Tools and Hardware Reviews of BISSELL Versus Cordless Bare-Floor Vacuum, 21R9ACustomer Review: Bissell is good Summary: 4 Stars
This vacuum works great. Style wise, I prefer a broom-vac model but the dirt devil I had prior to this Bissel did not last.
Customer Review: Don't expect much from this and you won't be disappointed Summary: 3 Stars
I bought this after reading the reviews. Mine came from a discount store...I would not pay full price for this machine. It has really wimpy suction even on a full charge, and no, you cannot get along walls or in the corners of a room (I sweep stuff out of corners and along walls with my foot into the path of the "V" so I can get it picked up with this vacuum). Although, what I bought this for it succeeds at. I have a young son who is obsessed with play-dough. We constantly have minute pieces of this (in every color) on our kitchen floor (and light carpets for it to be tracked in on and stain) along with cracker crumbs and dog hair. I was really tired of trying to: Swiffer it (I couldn't keep up often enough for that method to be effective); get down on all fours with a hand vac; or break out my trusty manual broom (which I still end up having to bend down to sweep into a dust pan). This will pick up what I need picked up and I don't have to remove all of the chairs and move the kitchen table to get at the gunk. If I am really looking at cleaning the floor I will use something else, but for picking up a small mess, this works well. As a mom of two I've done grosser things than empty the dust pan, it needs to be emptied frequently but it's basically a hand vac on a stick so that shouldn't be surprising. It isn't really impressive, but if you constantly need to pick up small things, this works. I don't expect this to last very long, it's truly a cheaply made vacuum. My other hand vacuums work much better but require me to kneel on the floor to use them. So I'm keeping it with low expectations of it's lifetime and a barely adequate review of it's performance.
Customer Review: Did not like it Summary: 2 Stars
We wanted to replace another cordless sweeper made by Bissell:Perfect Sweep Turbo Sweeper - model 2880.
We thought this one would be a nice upgrade. Well, it did not work as we thought it would. First of all, the working area is smaller then in model 2880. Since it does not have wheels and spinning brash it almost impossible to use it on small rugs and carpets, even though it says in the manual that it should work on low rise carpets. Basically you have to drag it over the carpet, it does not move freely so you have to use significant force to go over the rug. And it is not like a dip carpet, it happened on any surface other then wood floor. Also it still collect hair as the 2880 with spinning brash does. The hair stuck on two rubber inserts on the bottom of the sweeper so you have to clean them manually every time.
Basically if you use it on bare floor to pick up loose cereal - it might work fine. Other then that I think there are better and cheaper alternatives.
Customer Review: Vacuum is horrible Summary: 1 Stars
I don't know what vacuum the other reviewers have been rating at this site, but the Bissell Versus vacuum is useless, completely useless. It has minimal suction and functions only on a hard floor surface. I tried it on a hooked wool rug - as low of a pile as you'll find, and could not even push it across the rug. I purchased this based on a Consumer Report recommendation - and as usual with their recommendations - was completely disappointed. This is a complete waste of money - you can clean more efficiently with a broom and dust pan - what a waste of landfill space!
