I just bought my second CHV1400. This is my third DustBuster model, and the first I've purchased a second time because it worked so well.
I'm using one at the office to clean up grit from our interior landmark-building brick walls as they crumble (don't ask). Needless to say, it's a tough job, but this unit handles it easily, picking up all the dust and concrete chunks that fit into the nozzle. It does hold onto larger pieces, too, so I put the unit over a trash bag and turn it off to release the bigger chunks.
My favorite feature: the filter cleaner. All you do is flick an exterior wheel, which "beats" the filter to get the grit out from between the folds. It keeps the cleaning suction high.
Cheap, effective, esy to use, great discount. I'll buy another, if it's still out there when I need one.

I love this thing. My two kids, 8 and 11, clean up their own messes (spilled cereal, bits of dried playdoh, spilled fish food, sand they track in etc) with it because it is so easy. They can fetch it and hang it back up themselves.
There are two filters, one plastic, one the typical fabric like paper. You can rotate a little wheel to clean the paper one inside of the plastic one. However, over time the inside filter collects dirt that is not removed by rotating the wheel. When this happens you can remove the outer plastic filter by rotating it just a bit and take out the inside filter. Wash both under running water and let dry. Viola! Clean again.
We have used this every day for a year and a half and it is still going strong (sucking strong I suppose you would say!).

I rent a room in a house and wanted to get a small vacuum to use. After reading many of the positive reviews I finally decided on this unit. Let me just say so far I have no regrets in buying this unit. Very easy to used and the strength of the suction power surprised me. The little features make this a good unit.
1. Its cordless so its very portable. I can use it for my room or take it outside to vacuum up my car.
2. The charger allows the unit to be mounted to that it is out of the way.
3. Clear collection case lets you see all the dust that is being collected.
4. Has a handy wheel you can turn that allows you to turn the filter to dislodge any dust sticking to it. This helps when trying to empty the unit.
Over all glad I bought this unit.

I purchased this item because I have two young children, one an especially messy baby who likes throwing his food on the floor. Since my kids are allergic to dogs, I needed something convenient, portable, cordless, and powerful. This DustBuster did not disappoint. I use it up to 5 times a day (3 meals and 2 snacks!) and it is perfect for picking up whatever non-wet and non-gooey food has landed on the floor. It's also great for Play-dough and craft messes (glitter, paper scraps, etc.). It is very easy to empty (no bag) and comes apart easily for cleaning. We just disassemble it and rinse all the pieces in the sink. I've read that some other reviewers have a problem with it holding a charge, but mine has never pooped out on a mess. After reading the reviews here on this item I decided to purchase this. I can't tell you how much I love this thing. I have had it for a few months now and I don't know how I survived without it before. I have a 16 month old, so crumbs and small messes have become part of my daily life. I use this to pick it all up, off the floor, the stroller, the carseat, etc. I use it for the messes my husband and I leave behind as well. The suction is powerful and it seems to keep a charge for quite awhile (just don't keep it sitting on the charger all the time as that will fatigue the battery, or so I am told).
Antoher added benefit that I did not forsee is that my son loves it. He wants to vacuum everything (I'm no dummy, have at it kid!).
