Tools and Hardware Reviews of Blue Max GEN4000B 4,000 Watt 6.5 HP 4-Stroke OHV Gas Powered Generator

Customer Review: Mostly happy
Summary: 4 Stars

I live in a semi rural area in Michigan. It seems every time we have a storm the power goes out, thus this purchase.
Product was delivered on time in perfect condition. I filled the engine with oil (not provided) and gas, gave it 2 pulls and it was up and running. Sure enoungh, one week later we lost power. Generator worked perfect--ran 2 refrigerators, furnace and some lights with no trouble for 8 hours. Remember, this is 4000 watt MAX unit, normal output is 2800 watts. Also, it is heavy (about 90 pounds)
The reason I gave only 4 stars is because it was made in China.

Customer Review: Can't find parts
Summary: 4 Stars

Before I even took a chance to mess with it to see if it would start, somehow, the plastic sparkplug cap broke. I glued it together and it started up great. I don't like parts that are glued together; and now I am having difficulty finding a sparkplug cap for my Blue Max 4000 gen. Can someone help?

Customer Review: generator
Summary: 4 Stars

Great item for the price and for the use camping. May not last as long as the more exspendsive ones but it does the job for what i needed it for.

Customer Review: Blue Max 4000 Generator
Summary: 4 Stars

Generator started on 2nd pull, runs smooth. Easy operation except for awkward oil reservoir. Recommend buying portable cart for transport

Customer Review: Soft to run, hard to start
Summary: 3 Stars

For the price I paid, it's OK, even taking in account that it's a Chinese product. Don't try to understand the manual, because it's been written by people who obviously don't have a good knowledge of English. I coined a word to describe such language: "Chinglish". After taking it out of the box, I have it filled with oil (10W30) and gas. I had to do some efforts in order to get the generator started. One pull wasn't enough. It started at the 9th or 10th try. The generator is, surprisingly, less noisy than other similar products and run smoothly with almost no pops and the generated voltage is highly stable. It's a good buy, although I regret I didn't choose a model with an electric start and wheels.
