I purchased the Braun 7040-091 tooth brush to replace one of our Braun rechargeable toothbrushes that had failed. This one sounds different than my old one and our other rechargeable Braun. It has a little higher pitch hum, but is not as loud as the older ones. It also seems to operate at a higher speed on the high setting.
I like it and am glad that I bought it. Time will tell if the unit will fail as my previous Braun. My previous Braun worked fine for about five (5) years. I disassembled it to see if I could determine the cause of failure and concluded that the seal keeping moisture (toothpaste, water and saliva) from entering the battery area had eventually failed. I am now storing the power handle with the tip(metal silver part) down, after brushing, to see if that will extend the life of the power handle. Check with me in another five (5) years.

I left my Braun power toothbrush on a cruise ship. I had the system for several years and didn't want to pay $80 for a new system. I still had the charger. This replacement was reasonably priced and it fit my old charger and spare heads. It works great and I received it it quickly from the vendor. I highly recommend this as a replacement or for an added unit for another family member.
I have been using the Braun for years and think it is a well made product does a superior job of cleaning your teeth.
It has a novel and proprietary charging system so if you don't have the charger, this handle will not do you much good.

I had an Oral B 3D toothbrush that I had purchased 10 years ago. It came with two power handles, which my husband and I enjoyed. They both went bad within a week, and I was looking to replace them. A new toothbrush kit with charger and a single handle was about $75 to $100+, depending on the model. I found two handles (these were two speed and my old ones were only single speed) for only about $15 each. So we have two new electric toothbrushes for about a third of the cost of an entire kit, even with shipping. What a great deal!Customer Review: braun 3d brush

i charged it after receiving it and am still brushing on that same charge .. i guess my dad's goes for 3 weeks .. it must be niMH or maybe lithium batttery .. its way better than ni cad whatever it is !
u have to be carefull with these -- no showering and toothbrushing multi tasking -- this will let water get in (as you will drop in the shower on accident) and it will corrode from within .. thats how my old one died ...
i bought a dollar store one and it is a joke compared to this one ...

For the past seven years or so, have used Braun 3D Excel electric toothbrush. Finally, it started to fail recently. Decided to buy new one. Could not find it. Eventually found this - since I was convinced it was the "handle" that was failing, took a chance and bought this. I was in luck. It fit the charging unit perfectly and is working as good as my old one did when it was new. Very happy with my purchase and the speed of delivery.
