I have my share of electronic stud finders (ie Zircon). They get the job done for the most part. But occasionally the electronic types have certain disadvantages. The biggest one for me is having to scan several passes to make sure i can locate the the center and edges of the stud. And as you may guess the readings are not always the same. Well, this is never a problem for this magnetic stud finder!! It always hones in on the nail (given that the nail at hand is centered on the stud which you have to assume it is). I give this product an A+ because it does exactly what it claims. For regular usage I would recommend using the magnetic finder first then confirm with an electronic one if necessary. I have two or three other stud finders that are supposed to electronically find the studs. I have continual problems with erroneous readings and they are often flat out wrong. They are also bulky and unwieldy. The Hanson stud finder is absolutely awesome - it is compact and sticks to the wall with a powerful magnet that centers precisely over the screws used to install the wallboard. No more false readings! I finally put up 5 shelves and a wall mounted jewelry cabinet with 100% accuracy with this little baby. If you need to find the stud this is the product you need! I have used a ton of different stud finders, and this one is definitely the quickest way to find a stud. I used it the first time for nailing up trim and it was super fast and easy, not to mention that it hangs there while you are nailing so you don't need to mark the wall. The leveler is perfect for getting it to point straight up and down. I would recommend this for anyone looking for the fastest way to find a stud.
One thing to note is that it may not always be the most accurate since the reference point is a nail. The nail MAY be perfectly centered on the stud but it also may be to the left or right. Not a big deal, but a good normal stud finder will still provide better stud center accuracy albeit a ton slower.

I was completely prepared to spend upwards of $50-$60 or even more if that's what it took to find a good stud finder, and looking at the price of the fancy electronic ones on the market, it seemed likely that's what would be required. But then I came across this one for an amazingly low price and decided to take a shot. And boy am I glad I did! No beeping, no lights, no electronic displays. Just a level and a magnet. Wave the thing over the wall until you pass over a nail head and the magnet just sticks to the wall. That's it. And unlike the notoriously unreliable expensive models, it was right on every time. For me the most frustrating issue with an electronic studfinder is the inconsistency--if you try the same reading the second time, the result is just slightly off, ditto for the third time, the fourth and so on. No so with Stud-4-sure! If you move this stud-finding candy-bar ever so slightly over the right area, it will practically pull out of your hand and snap over the nail head, with 100% reproducibility. This gizmo does only one thing, and it does it very well. If you're looking for flashing lights, pretty display, or secondary functions, this is not for you. But if you need something that does what it's supposed to do--as well as or better than anything else--then you've just found it.
