I've been looking for a stud finder for years that actually works. I've tried a number of electronic ones and sometimes it would work, sometimes not. Mind you, I've used the electronic ones on plaster and lathe. Not sure if that has anything to do with it not working.
I've used this one on my new house, which is all plasterboard. This product works, and works awesome. I don't know how it would work on plaster walls, but I can say that I'm very happy to have this in my toolbox. I would buy this again, and will probably order a couple more for friends.

Anyone who has used a stud finder has undoubtably been sadly dissapointed with its results. They never work consistently or otherwise. If I am going to drill a hole into a wall, I need to know I am going into a stud for sure.
This stud finder cut out all the techno bs and went to the basics by just relying on magnets to find the screw and/or nail heads. The magnets are extremly strong and will locate the screws through ceramic porcelain tile, stainless steel, and more. I bought 8 units for all of my commercial kitchen installers and couldn't be happier.

I've been wanting a good stud finder for awhile now. I've always just thought of getting one at home depot or something, but when I found this one for just $10, I thought I'd give it a try because the electronic ones can cost a fortune. This thing truly is amazing. I understand how it works so simply, but I don't understand how this method hasn't been used by other stud finder manufacturers.
If you're wondering if you should get it or not, GET IT. It will definitely be worth it in the end. No batteries, never gets old, and does things right.

I have now tried 2 electronic studfinders before getting this. Its funny that all these expensive electronic studfinders with bells and whistles are effective at nothing other than making noises and sending bright lights that mean absolutely nothing. The two I tried never once indicated the same reading which left me with nothing more than holes to fill.Now dont get me wrong as this product is expensive IMO for what you get but it certainly does the job and is the last stud finder you will ever need to buy. First off I want to say that the photos make this tool look huge. It's tiny and it works perfect. No more lining my walls with nail holes when trying hang a heavy item like a TV on the wall. I have aluminum studs so its not as easy to do the hollow hammer tap on the sheet-rock to see where the stud is. It all sounds the same because the aluminum studs are hollow but since I have this stud finder now its no problem.
I recommend this stud finder to anyone and for the price you really can't beat it. Great tool!!!!
