Description of Talavera Light Switch Plate Cover - Single Flip Switch, Assorted Colors
Brighten up any room by replacing your existing switch plate cover with one of these hand painted in the traditional Talavera style in Mexico. The plate cover is designed for a light switch cover with a single flip switch. The picture shows two different switchplate designs. This is a representation of what they will look like. The one(s) you order will be similar but not identical since each one id hand painted by various artists. Talavera is an art form that has its roots starting in the 16th Century. Original styles have been influenced with Spanish, Arabic, Italian and Chinese origins. The Spaniards brought the technique to Mexico with a distinctive style that came from Talavera de la Reina, a city in the central part of Spain. From there it developed into a contemporary art form that is still extremely popular that many villages were built just to support the making of the numerous forms that can be purchased today. Customer Review: Really beautiful, but not really easy to install

All of these Talavera switchplates are beautiful and colorful, and surprisingly well made and durable. Just be aware that they do not fit flush to the wall like the plastic ones. You are going to have to do a lot of fiddling with the switches themselves - I had to put individually-made plastic shims behind the tops and bottom of each switch, so they were out from the wall enough so the screws holding the switchplate would actually reach the switches.
