Tools and Hardware Reviews of Chamberlain KLIK1U Clicker Transmitter Universal Garage Door Remote ControlCustomer Review: Chamberlain KLIK1U Clicker Transmitter -- GREAT!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I have a LiftMaster Garage Door Opener that was installed in our barn in 1993. Needless to say, over the years the remotes that came with the door stopped working unless you got on a ladder and held it right next to the unit. I called LiftMaster and answered lots of questions, i.e., do you live near an army base? NO Is there a motor running in the building causing interference, etc. NO. They recommended this Universal Remote.
I ordered it figuring that if it worked great and if it didn't we'd have to look at the logic board. It came today and I didn't really find the instructions very clear so I went to Amazon to read other reviews. Great....we had the remote working in less than 2 minutes including the time it took to get to the barn and get a ladder out to reach the garage door opener. We have the unit that has a "Smart Code" green button. This is what you have to do: Stand under the garage door opener, take the cover off of the Clicker remote, then press the programming button inside the clicker universal remote until it lights up. Now either you or someone else get on the ladder and press the green programming button on the Lift-Master until the light on the garage door opener stays lit. You will hear a click in the remote in your hand.....then press the programming button in the remote one more time, click the outside large left button on the remote and it works!
Others have reported that you need to be right under the remote or very close to get it to work. I tested it by walking from the barn to my house....remote continued to open/close door at least 100 feet away....it even works from inside the house.
Of course, we have only used this remote today so things may change but I remain hopefully optimistic.
Highly deal!
