Tools and Hardware Reviews of Chamberlain KLIK1U Clicker Transmitter Universal Garage Door Remote Control

Customer Review: works with Sears model 139.53100 garage door opener
Summary: 5 Stars

Works well with this model even though the garage door opener was made before 1990. The garage door opener has 3-position dip switches and the Clicker has 2-position dip switches. If your garage door opener has its dip switches set to position zero, you will need to reset the switches to either the + or - positions. You cannot use the zero position with the Clicker. (You can find the dip switches on the back of the garage door opener.) Programming the Clicker is then as simple as setting its dip switches to match, pushing the programming button, and pushing the remote button until the garage door opens. Before finding the clicker, I was afraid I would have to buy a whole new garage door opener just because the remote had stopped working. The Clicker was a much cheaper option.

Of course if you have a newer model opener with Smart Learn, you can skip all the stuff about dip switches...

Customer Review: Tip for those who complain of short range
Summary: 5 Stars

I got mine set up fairly quickly. Didn't work the first time, so I reversed all the switches on the opener and did it again, and that did the trick. But I then found the range to be very short - less than 10 feet - no good! But what I also found was that I was expecting to press the button 16 times for a Stanley opener, yet 14 did the trick (i.e. the door was activated on the 14th press.) 14 is for a multicode (I take that to mean generic.) So I programmed it again, but this time did the full 16 presses, and now my range is very good - along the lines of 100 feet. Also, if you're curious (I was) - how does it control 2 doors with only 1 set of DIP switches? It remembers the settings during activation. So you set it to match one door, do the programming step, then set it to match the switches on your second door and do the programming step for it. Great unit and highly recommend!

Customer Review: Wasn't even sure what brand my garage door opener was!
Summary: 5 Stars

The garage door opener was installed before I bought the house. When I lost my remote, I just went without since I didn't know what brand/model it was. I'd tried to figure it out by looking at the unit but it's old and beaten up.

I decided to try this out of plain frustration and desperation. The instructions tell you which color your smart-programming button might be and how to program accordingly. My button is red and worked with one of the Chamberlain settings (on the very first try).

Took a VERY handy-handicapped person about 10 seconds to program this. I wonder if I'm installing my air filters in my heat pump correctly but this was easy as pie.

I'm not sure what the range is, but I haven't had it disappoint me yet - it's worked from wherever I've pressed it from.

So happy that I have an automatic garage door opener again!!!

Customer Review: Product details and description.
Summary: 5 Stars

Though I have found Amazon and its subsidiaries to be outstanding when filling and shipping orders, Amazon should, in my opinion, pay more attention to the "Technical Details" and "Product Descriptions" of the items which get listed on their site -- throughout their site by the way. The programing sheet only states the Chamberlain KLIK1U is compatible with Craftsman but there is no mention of a Craftsman unit within the list of models supported. The instruction sheet says the KLIK1U was manufactured to support units after 1993. I find reviews which report it also has worked with older units and is a good thing. Please note the Product Description "Includes 9V Battery". No such thing. If you care to read the "PDF" instruction sheet for this unit, it can be reached by clicking the "more info" button: http://www.gatehousesupplies.com/Chamberlain-KLIK1U-p/klik1u%20%20(375lm).htm

Customer Review: Excellent product
Summary: 5 Stars

With two sons at college, we suddenly had more cars than garage door remotes, and since donating my opener to son number 2, I quickly got tired of getting out of the car to open and close the door via the kepyad. These remotes were the perfect solution for our 1991 Genie Intellicode opener. It took 60 seconds to program each of the two remotes I purchased, and I am also impressed with the Chamberlain Garage Door monitor that I purchased at the same time, which tells me from the convenience of our Master Bedroom whether the garage door is open or closed. The door monitor was simplicity itself to set up. Paid around $20 each for the remotes and the monitor and received the items from [...] in a couple of business days. It's amazing how much you miss the convenience but everything is good again now. Definitely recommend these - and I very rarely post things like this.
