Tools and Hardware Reviews of Chamberlain KLIK1U Clicker Transmitter Universal Garage Door Remote Control

Customer Review: Couldn't be easier to program - Works great!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have a Chamberlain LiftMaster so I naturally expected the programming to be easy. Based on the instructions, since I had a green programming button on the opener itself, I knew I needed to press the button four times. I programmed the remote standing under the opener and after I pressed the button on the remote the required number of times (4), I heard the opener click. I then pressed the programming button on the remote, then the big button on the remote and it opened. I walked over to the second opener and programmed it in less than 10 seconds. It took longer to open the package and read a few steps than actually program it. Outstanding! I will say that it was not obvious that the first press of the big button (the I or II button counts as one of the clicks. But again, listen to the opener and it will tell you when it is ready.

Customer Review: Exactly what I needed
Summary: 5 Stars

I was looking for a single remote that would accommodate both a modern smart-programmable LiftMaster garage door opener and a Chamberlain MultiCode dip-switch style gate for our neighborhood. This was exactly what I needed. Within 5 minutes I had programmed 1 button using the smart programmable button in my garage, and the other by copying the dip switch settings from my existing gate remote. Now I have one compact remote to keep in my car.

I notice other reviews mention you have to follow the instructions exactly. This is true; you have to press the button you're programming a specific amount of times based on the system you want to control. Read the directions and you should have no problems. Range hasn't been an issue; it seems to work as well as or better than the original remotes I replaced.

Customer Review: Perfect Solution for Two Garage Doors
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this to replace a unit that wasn't working. It exceeded my expectations on ease of programming. Literally took a few seconds. The beauty of this remote is that it can be programmed for two doors. We have two doors that each had its own remote. I was constantly opening the wrong door because the remotes looked just alike. With the Chamberlain KLIK1U Universal there's a separate button for each door. Wish I had found this a long time ago!

Customer Review: It works!
Summary: 5 Stars

Yay.....it works! I followed the enclosed instructions (setting the dip switches) & was able to get 1 door programmed to work. In fact, both buttons opened only 1 door. But, I have 2 garage doors & my old remote had a button that opened each door. So.....I called the 800 number provided & got a very nice lady (after being on hold quite a while) who stayed w/me while I moved my car out of the garage, got out a ladder (I'm a 60+ woman who lives alone, but she recorded my phone # & address before I climbed the ladder) & had me look at the dip switches on the second door unit. I then programmed the second button on my Clicker remote....& it worked! I only bought 1 remote because I wanted to be sure I would like it. I'm now ordering 2 more!

Customer Review: Works great with old and new opener.
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this remote control because our new house was missing a garage door opener for one door and only had one opener for the other door. One of the openers was a 1987 model fixed code dip-switch model and the other one was a newer rolling code model.

I had the unit programmed in about 5 minutes and it works great.

You can program each button separately, so I use the left button for my newer rolling code door and the right button for my old fixed code door.

One thing that I got stuck on is that the dip-switches are read at programming time, if you change the dip switch after you program the button, it will have no effect. If you just follow the steps in the manual, you won't have a problem.
