I purchased this unit after doing research on several consumer sites. It was highly rated and I must agree with the sites. The door is super quite, you can barely hear any noise. This unit replace a 9 year old craftsman chain unit, that was loud.
The unit is fairly easy to set up. I wouldn't call myself a handyman, but I am good with directions. I did the set up on my own in about 4 hours. I took so long, because the directions weren't very precise and I didn't want to mess up. Plus, I was doing it with no help. If you have some help, you may get this up and running in about 1 1/2 hours. I also used some of the old parts from my old set up. That may be why I didn't need some items that other reviews stated were missing.
Don't hesitate to buy this unit. It is highly rated and fairly easy to set up. Makes for an easy Saturday afternoon project. Great price on Amazon too with free shipping.

I just installed the opener today. Fairly easy to install. I was able to use some of the exisiting hardware from the previous installation so I didn't have to worry about hangers or the wall or door mounts. The settings were pretty close right out of the box for distance and force. This has all the safety features that I was looking for plus it is very quiet. It is below our bedroom so I went with the belt drive. Much quieter than the LiftMaster chain drive it replaced. Besides all the usual bells and whistles that pretty much all the combo sets have (2 openers, rolling code, outside keypad, safety beam eyes) it has a cool feature that lets you add devices from the wall mount so you don't have to get up on a stool or ladder to press the "learn" button on the motor. Ordered the Chamberlain WD822KD belt drive opener on Wednesday and using standard shipping (a few bucks more) received it on Saturday. It took my wife and me about 4 hours to install, test and program the remotes. The directions were easy to follow and the only glitch was the opener "overheated" during repeated testing for force, distance and safety. We waited the required 30 minutes and then finished the project. The opener is extremely quiet. Where our old chain drive opener vibrated the floor of the room above the garage and sounded like a vehicle was coming through the floor, the Whisper Drive has no vibration and is barely audible from that same room. The above product was delivered on the estimated delivery date that my order indicated. I went thru the parts list and noticed some parts were missing so I called Chamberlain customer service. It was on a weekend but I got thru to a live rep and she reordered the missing parts which came in a week later. The hardware assembly was precision tooled and fit together nicely. Instructions were very good which allowed me to install it all by myself. I was quite pleased with the sound level of my new Chamberlain Whisper Drive 1/2-HP Belt Drive Garage Door Opener. For 10 years I listened to the old Sears clunker which sounded like a freight train went by every time I used it... what a relief! Overall, I rate the above Chamberlain product and their customer service as excellent, and with Amazon's pricing you can't go wrong.

Bought this to replace an older open. Very quite, great light from the two 100 watt bulbs (you can use the effecient swirly ones with no problems) and the extra buttons on the remotes for lights, etc are great. You can also program your car opener buttons to work with this one. The touch pad is a good size and has a glow light that stays on, I am not sure if there is a setting for that, but it is like having a very mild nightlight which I find useful. Remotes are easy to reprogram if you accidently mess them up like I did - a cinch. We did not install the coded keypad outside so can't say anything about it. The delivery through Amazon was awesome. We ordered it at night and it was delivered FedEx in one business day and that was with the free Super Saver Shipping. I would recommend this item, fair price great product!
