Customer Review: Super Quiet Garage Door Opener

As I assembled the unit I wondered if it was an industrial strength kind of construction when I compared it to the Genie garage door opener that it was replacing. The main drive belt that lifts and lowers the garage door is made of rubber so I wonder how often it needs to be replaced.
I checked on the price of a replacement belt([...]). At $[...] dollars I figure it won't be that bad to replace the belt every 5 years or so.
In the past we always knew when someone was leaving or arriving by the sound of our garage door opener. This opener is so quiet that we can no longer hear it when it is opening or closing.
I am quite happy with my new garage door opener.

After reviewing the brands and models we chose this belt drive. It took my son and I about 3 hours to replace a chain drive with this unit and we're pretty mechanical. It's really no big deal to do it yourself. Add an extra hour if you have to install it with mounting hardware.
It is extremely quiet. The exterior opener is a great feature. Programming the buttons in an MDX and Pilot is very easy. One pro or con is that the light turns on if someone walks into the garage. That's great if your kid is out at night and comes home. It's not so great if you have dogs that go in and out. That's a very minor issue, though.
I'd highly recommend this unit, for $214, and it arrived within 3 days.

This unit was an easy install when replacing my old one. The instructions were clear and I had no problems at all. Bear in mind a new installation will require more time and labor as would with any opener.
The unit is quiet as advertised, but if you have a noisy door to start with, it will still be noisy after installing this unit.
The best part of this package is the extras are all included: Two small remotes for your car, one lighted wall switch with a control for the light, and an outside wireless keypad. Some of that stuff cost extra with the old Genie unit I had.
With the amazon super saver on shipping, this was clearly a best buy for me.

Excellent in every way. Best price, prompt shipment, well packaged, and very good installation instructions. The booklet is written by someone who understands that not everyone has done it before or is an engineer. Explains things clearly. Product performs exactly as described: powerful, well constructed and quiet. Definitely worth the extra few dollars for the better model. Maybe I was lucky but by following the instructions to the tee NO adjustments were necessary! One of the best things about the purchase is Chamberlain's technical installation support. I purchased this opener based on the reviews here and the fact that it was belt driven. Shipping was timely and it was shipped in the original box. Instructions were excellent, and appeared to have been written by native English speakers. I've never attempted to install a garage door opener previous to this. My home had never had an opener installed although it was prewired for one. The most challenging part of the install was finding the studs for the mounting bracket on the ceiling and cutting. If you have the required tools and can follow step by step instructions then you can install this opener. After everything was hooked up mine needed no adjustments whatsoever.
