View larger. | The Claber Oasis Automatic Drip Watering System is easy to install right out of the box--setup takes just minutes. And with its intuitive design that features a single set of controls, the Oasis is a snap to use. Simply place the unit on a sturdy surface that's at least 2-1/2 feet above your tallest pot, insert a 9V battery (not included), install the system's distribution hose and drippers, fill the tank with water and choose your program. It's that easy! An added bonus, an LED signals when the Oasis is in operation or when the battery is low, so you never have to worry about your plants going without the water they need. One 9V battery will power your system for an entire year. Large Tank with Electronic Timer and Four Different Watering Programs The distribution tank has a capacity of 6.6 gallons and features four convenient watering programs: 10, 20, 30, and 40 days. Each program is designed to deliver a perfectly calibrated amount of water to as many as 20 plants, so you can stop worrying about over- or under-watering. And with a built-in electronic timer and water-saving bi-stable solenoid valve, this unique watering system guarantees efficient delivery of water each and every time you use it. The Oasis precisely measures water to suit your specific needs. Each program waters twice per day, and the amount of water is equally distributed to your plants. The 10-day program delivers 4.05 ounces of water per dripper per day; the 20-day program delivers 2.02 ounces of water per dripper per day; the 30-day program delivers 1.35 ounces of water per dripper per day; and the 40-day program delivers 1.01 ounces of water per dripper per day. Generally speaking, one dripper is sufficient for small and medium plants; two drippers are recommended for larger plants. Easy Cleaning and Storage Cleaning the Oasis takes just minutes: simply wipe all of the parts with a damp rag and let dry. The internal water filter can also be treated with a mixture of water and distilled vinegar to eliminate any lime scale. The Oasis Self-Watering System's small profile allows for easy storage in a closet or cabinet. Preparing the unit for storage is simple: just remove the battery, drain the water from the tank and hose, clean, dry, and store. The Oasis Automatic Drip Watering System's attractive, modern styling fits well with any décor, and its soft rubber feet keep it secure on any surface and eliminate scratching. To ensure long-lasting use, the Oasis features high-quality materials and construction and is backed by a 2-year warranty. What's in the Box Distribution system, 20 drippers, 33-foot circuit hose, and 20 fixing stakes
Tools and Hardware Reviews of Claber 8053 Oasis 4-Program/20 Plant Garden Automatic Drip Watering SystemCustomer Review: Saved my plants during a long absence Summary: 5 Stars
GREAT PRODUCT.
I went overseas for 8 weeks in early August and this device kept my plants alive while I was gone. They were totally unattended during this time. I have 4 larger plants (requiring 2 drippers each) and 2 smaller plants (requiring 1 dripper each). I didn't even have time to test the device before I left, so I worried for my plants while I was gone and half expected to come back to a roomful of dead ones. Much to my relief and amazement, they were thriving - honestly I think they do better hooked up to the Oasis than they do under my normal care. I used the 40-day setting and a brand new battery. I even kept them hooked up to it for another 9th week after I returned, and when I emptied out the tank after that final week there were still 2 quarts left of the 6 gallons I had originally added. I think that my six plants would have survived even a 12-week absence on that setting. With more plants (and more drippers) I imagine this estimate would have to be adjusted downward. I paid close attention to the set up instructions and made sure there were at least 2.5 feet between the surface on which I placed the Oasis and the highest pot. I made sure to vent the air from the circuit as described and confirmed that water was dripping from the drippers. I placed the two smaller plants in the first two places along the circuit to make sure they would get sufficient water. The plants usually reside next to the window (and don't get any direct light) but I moved them a good 12 feet away from the window to establish the proper height setting - the distance and lack of direct light were not a problem. I also placed each plant in a larger plastic container, bucket, or metal bowl in order to catch any overflow (seemed like there may have been one minor overflow with the two smaller plants, as there was a dried orange stain underneath them in their shared plastic container, which saved my carpet). And then I took off for a long vacation - so happy to find my plants alive and healthy when I opened the front door 8 weeks later! A simple gadget that ain't too fancy but hey, it did what I paid $80 for it to do.
Before dismantling, I recommend (as do others) that you take a photo and/or draw a diagram of the set up of plants and hoses so you can remember it all the next time. I also dismantled all the hoses and labeled each one individually so I know which plants they connect to.
