Tools and Hardware Reviews of ClimbTek CT416 Four-Section 300-Pound Duty Rating Aluminum Articulating Ladder, 16-FootCustomer Review: Good and Bad Summary: 3 Stars
I've had this ladder for 5 years. I recently bought a Werner MT-22.
The ClimbTek has 2 advantages:
You can make a scaffold out of it quickly, move it easily, and don't need any kind of additional plank (although it's a good idea to use one anyway). Also you can rotate the last section to approx 90deg, and place that on the roof of a one-story house, allowing you to use it without crushing the rain gutter, and walk right up onto the roof easily.
Where the Werner MT-22 improves on the ClimbTek:
When set up as a step ladder, you can adjust the height. ClimbTek is 8ft only. Same thing as an extension ladder: lots of different heights on the Werner, only 8, 12 or 16ft on the Climbtek. When the Climbtek is at 12ft, it's very top-heavy. The Werner is a lot tighter. The joints don't wobble as much as on the ClimbTek. I feel more secure on the Werner at every height. The ClimbTek is only really solid as a step-ladder.
Customer Review: i've upgraded and am now happier Summary: 2 Stars
I bought this ladder when first starting my business as a faux finisher/ decorative plasterer.
I've stood on this ladder for many many hours for the past 2 years.
I've upgraded to a Little Giant ladder and am very glad that i did.
PROS:
cost- this ladder is very worth the cost. Its really only comparable to the cost of one A-frame, and one straight ladder. I'm not impressed with the scaffolding layout. the other configurations require rather exact circumstances to make them useful.
size- that it folds up so small was great for me as i was conducting my business from a hatchback. it was the pricipal reason i bought it.
-i do sometimes use the scaffolding config. as a high work table
CONS
-The rungs are more uncomfortable than any ladder i have ever used. I work in anything from comfy sneakers to big workboots. doesnt matter. after a day up and down this ladder my feet hurt.
- the locking mechanism. i dont really trust it and you need to double/ triple check it each time you change positions. it doesnt feel secure to me.
-configuring tha ladder is a bit tricky, and for some changes you need a rather large area.that the joints only swing one way is limiting.
In comparrison to the Little giant.
-Its less than HALF the cost, so thats great.
-Way less comfortable
-way less configuarable/adaptable
-the extras with the little giant rock
My conclusion.
If you are a pro, this is NOT the ladder for you.
If you need an adaptable ladder and are on a budget, this MAY be for you, but i would seriously consider the LG.
Customer Review: Don't buy this lousy ladder - it's defective and unsupported Summary: 1 Stars
Purchased this from Amazon approximately 5 years ago along with a support stand and the boards to allow one to walk on it. Used it twice and stored it in the garage. Needed it again about a year ago and discovered to my great displeasure that one hinge locked up disabling the entire ladder. Not finding a way to correct it on my own, I finally located Michigan Ladder who claimed to be the manufacturer. Talked to a lady there who seemed to understand the problem and promised a replacement hinge "free of charge". Never received it, got no replies to my emails, and finally their phone wasn't answered. I still have it in the hopes that it can be repaired but am close to junking it. In the meantime I purchased a Werner from Lowes which seems better but due to its design, it won't accept the Climbtek accessories. I assume both Climbtek and Michigan Ladder are out of business now - that's what should happen to bad companies. Wish the same could be said for governments.
Customer Review: BAD EXPERIENCE X 2 = I lose $$$$$$ Summary: 1 Stars
I purchased this ladder, and it arrived broken. I assume this happened during shipment. I then sent in for a replacement, UPS came and picked up the ladder. 3days later the 2nd ladder shows up, bolts don't line up. It's impossble to talk to a LIVING BREATHING PERSON at Amazon to find out what to do. I then sent in for a refund they came and got the ladder again, then I read the refund policy...BEFORE YOU BUY THIS LADDER READ THE REFUND POLICY!!!! I know I'm gonna get SCREWED on this deal!!!!
Customer Review: Costs too much Summary: 1 Stars
This ladder costs way too much.It appears to be identical to the old KRAUSE MultiMatic which went for half that price. What happened to the old KRAUSE products? Go to Depot and get their import - a much better ladder. Teddy
