Our shower drain never drained properly ever since we moved in our new house. The builder did not look into this and after 4 years(!) After we ordered this simple drain tool, my husband went to work right away. He inserted the long plastic tool and twisted it several times. What he pulled out was a ball of hair which was stuck to a plumber's putty! Now the shower drains perfectly! Even if there wasn't a plumbers putty in the drain, this gadget really pulls up hair (remember to twist it)! This little tool does a great job at pulling hair clogs out of the drains in bathroom lavs (wash basins). It's the only tool that doesn't require you to disassemble the drain plug, and doesn't require harsh chemicals.
It cleans easily (use a kleenex to pull the hair off the teeth, taking care not to stick yourself) and can be reused. However, after several uses, you'll notice that the plastic teeth are wearing off. Then it's time to toss it.
We like this item so much that we are buying the bargain 12-pack and putting them beneath each sink for ready access.

It was only $2 for one at Walmart so I figured I might as well give it a shot before I tried shoving chemicals down the drain and ruining the pipes. The first couple times I only pulled out a little clump and almost gave up but ran some hot water down the drain and tried a couple more times and it DEFINITELY worked. So easy! Letting some water down there made the zip-it go down the pipe easier and I think it made it snag easier as well. Worked great, and using a plastic bag I was able to free the zip-it of the blockage easily and bleached it for the next use.Customer Review: Great for fishing

Over all I would say this is well worth the expense. It has worked great for me in the past. But I will say, you have to be careful about the size of your catch. I have not had any problems pulling small sunfish, or minnows out of the drain, but the other day, I hooked a large mouth bass, and I could not get his head, past the trap, had to release him.
All kidding aside, it really did work well for me, pulled a ton of stuff out of the drain. Don't know why others are saying it would not work for them? Worked just fine for me.

I have long hair. My bathroom sink gets clogged about once a month. I've tried Drano, I've plunged it. I've tried unsuccessfully to take off the sink trap. Nothing worked. I was going to buy a plumbing snake but then I saw this product and saw it was highly reviewed.
I tried it and it was too easy. Literally took me 30 seconds to clear the drain. And it is totally clean. No mess either - everything stuck to the Zip-It tool and I tossed it straight into the trash.
I'm getting a 12-pack next time. Awesome product!
