Tools and Hardware Reviews of Amway A101, E84, E-85, E-9225 Compatible Fit Replacement Water FilterCustomer Review: Smaller than the original but works just as well Summary: 4 Stars
Many reviewers of this 'Compatible Fit' replacement have been noting that it is smaller than the original Amway part. Some have expressed anger at being misled by Amazon, or feel cheated since the filter is in fact smaller than Amway's official replacement. However, they are missing the point: this filter is about 75% of the capacity of the original, but it also costs less than half as much as the original direct from Amway! Setting aside weather or not the unit filters as well as an Amway original, determining if the unit is a good value or not is purely a question of math.
To determine the value of each unit, we'd need to look at the value of the unit by comparing its cost with it's lifespan.
Unit Cost x Lifespan = Value
Amway's OEM Part:
$125.00 for 1 lifespan = $125.00 per lifespan
Compatible Fit Replacement
$60.00 for .75 lifespan = $80.00 per lifespan
Another way to look at this, would be the number of this Copatible Fit Replacement filters which could be purchased for the same price as the original from Amway:
$60.00 \ $125.00 = 2.08
So even if they only have 75% of the lifespan, you do a little better than 2-for-1 on price. Effectively that means that you get an extra half of a lifespan from the unit on Amazon.
Arguments about if the filter works as well as the original could only be tested through a scientific process that would be difficult to conduct at home. I can tell you that the water coming out of the this filter tastes just as good to me as what came from the Amway unit it replaced, but that's just my anecdotal experience. For me that's good enough. If you're worried that this filter won't do a good job of filtering water in general, you should probably pay more and get an OEM part from Amway. If, on the other hand, you believe a water filter is pretty much a water filter, rest assured that this is a good value, at least when compared with Amway's offering.
Hope that clears the air a little bit.
Customer Review: It worked Summary: 4 Stars
This filter fit my E-85, but it is significantly smaller than the original Amway version, but it worked and we are delighted that we no longer hear the beeping.

The filter was a good fit, easy to install. The diameter of this filter was smaller than the Amway filter.
Customer Review: It fits... Summary: 4 Stars
That's all there is to say about it, it fits, it filters fine. In other words it does its job.

The beep you get is to "remind" you to replace the filter - not a true test of the filter efficiency.
It is the Max Time length specified before changing, not gallons filtered.
Replace the battery and you'll get another year of service, may or may not be efficient.
1250 or 1000 gallons is the test and an estimate usage in a year.
No Filtration Specs to compare gives me Warning.
May give you good tasting water but the reason I bought this filter is to FILTER OUT THE BAD STUFF!
doe's it do that ?
I guess my only option is to order one to read the specs & compare the ANSI/NSF Standards.
