Tools and Hardware Reviews of Conair GS4R Compact Fabric SteamerCustomer Review: helps save your clothes and your wallet! Summary: 5 Stars
I love silk everything, so my dry cleaner loves me. Like many people, I take a boatload of items in every few weeks and hope they don't wrinkle again on the way home or in my closet ... the whole process is expensive, and this little steamer really helps save your clothes and your wallet. It generates a strong, steady flow of steam in about five minutes, and is easy to fill, carry, and store. With one max fill I was able to refresh three silk cardigans, smooth the wrinkles out of three silk blouses and a few of my husband's ties -- a good 20 minutes of steaming. It comes with an over-the-door hanger, and two other attachments (brush and velour) that slide over the nozzle head. Instructions for the unit are clear, but nothing is said about the additional attachments. The steamer itself is thoughtfully designed -- the nozzle hose coils around the unit, and the head locks into place on top of the steamer, and underneath the steamer is a built-in cord wrap for the power cord.
I don't know how favorably this would compare to the fabric steamers in the $200 range, or how this would work for someone who wants to give up ironing altogether ... but this has definitely reduced my dry cleaning trips, and will help extend the life of some of my favorite clothes. Definitely a worthwhile investment at under $30!
Customer Review: Unbelievable! Summary: 5 Stars
I was very skeptical after reading some reviews on many models I was looking to buy. I bought this one because it had the best reviews and the price was nice and if it didnt work well I would just return it and go back to the old iron and spray starch. I grew up with a mother who spent hours at the ironing board and I vowed never to do that to myself. I wear jeans, silks, scrubs, to heavy lab coats. My first test was a pair of jeans my husband left in the dryer all night with creased wrinkles. Following the instructions to a "t", I started from the bottom up, and right before my eyes the wrinkles were disappearing! I couldnt believe how fast and easy. Needless to say, I couldnt find enough things to steam. The last thing I did was the heavy lab coat that all the spray starch in the world is hard to get this perfect. I cant believe it, but it was absolutely amazing how fast and easy it came out. The crease attachment snapped right on and made the sleeves and collar perfect like the dry cleaners. I also did silk shirts and rayon.Perfect. I am so pleased, I am going to bring it to my mothers to show her because she would never believe it! Hope this helps! Also beware of the steam, I burned my thumb a few times before I got used to holding the bottom right.
Customer Review: GREAT LITTLE STEAMER! Summary: 5 Stars
I BOUGHT THIS FABRIC STEAMER BECAUSE WE'VE RECENTLY BEEN DOING TRADE SHOWS FOR OUR BUSINESS...SOME OF THE ITEMS WE SELL ARE COTTON T-SHIRTS WITH OUR BUSINESS LOGO ON THEM. WHEN WE GOT THEM BACK TO THE SHOP, THEY WERE PRETTY WRINKLED EVEN THOUGH WE FOLDED THEM NEATLY IN OUR TRAVEL CASE. I STARTED IRONING THEM ONE BY ONE, WHICH WAS TEDIOUS & TIME CONSUMING, TO SAY THE LEAST. AND PLUS, WITH THE LOGO ON THE SHIRT, I HAD TO BE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO TOUCH IT WITH THE HOT IRON BECAUSE IT WOULD HAVE SMEARED OFF THE LOGO. SO, I WENT ON AMAZON THAT NIGHT AND CHECKED OUT THE FABRIC STEAMERS...THIS LITTLE GEM SEEMED TO HAVE THE BEST REVIEWS & GREAT PRICE TO BOOT! WHEN I USED IT ON THE SHIRTS THE WRINKLES CAME OUT QUICKLY, I COULD STEAM OVER OUR LOGO WITH NO PROBLEMS, IT'S COMPACT AND IT REALLY DOESN'T TAKE THAT LONG TO HEAT UP IN MY OPINION. EVERY NOW AND THEN IT DOES LEAK A LITTLE WATER FROM THE CONDENSATION OF THE STEAM, BUT YOU JUST HAVE TO STRETCH OUT HOSE AND LET IT RUN BACK INTO THE CANNISTER. I LOVE IT & IT SAVES ME SO MUCH TIME AS OPPOSED TO IRONING...TOTALLY RECOMMEND IT!!!
Customer Review: takes the chore out of ironing Summary: 5 Stars
Very fast and so very much easier than ironing. Haven't quite gotten used to not burning myself with it when it drips, but a light shake and all the condensation from the steam will fall back down (a harder shake with have you wearing hot drops of water).
I hate ironing, and my clothes that need to be ironed accumulate for months before I drag everything out and spend 3-4 hours ironing. Now, I just hang what I want to wear on the door with the included hanger, pop the steamer handle on the door hanger as well, and turn it on while I get ready, then it's just 2-3 minutes of steaming everything, then a few minutes for them to cool, and my clothes look great! A lot better than they did when I'd iron them and then hang them in the closet for a week or two. I steam just about everything I wear now!
I chose this one because it was inexpensive, but seemed better than the portables, and honestly, it pumps out plenty of steam. I haven't tried it on any super creased jeans, but haven't found anything it couldn't flatten out so far.
Customer Review: Just what I was looking for! Summary: 5 Stars
I have tried three steamers now and this one is by far the best for me. It is easy to assemble, but doesn't take up a lot of space ( no pole) if you want to leave it out, or it will also fit in the bottom of a closet fully assembled. This steamer uses a small, separate over the door hanger instead of a pole. The hanger also worked on my towel bar. This steamer didn't leak at all for me and it heats up quickly, too! It holds plenty of water and is easy to fill and empty at my bathroom sink. The commercial steamer I tried was heavy, bulky, and had to be disassembled for storage due to the pole. Filling it was awkward and more complicated. An iron style vertical steamer/iron i bought didn't hold enough water for one garment! My iron style steamer also leaked all over the floor and garment - I couldn't be happier with my new conair steamer- I'm buying one for my adult kids. We all HATE ironing and are excited about this convenient, efficient, AND inexpensive steamer.
