Tools and Hardware Reviews of Conair GS4R Compact Fabric Steamer

Customer Review: Great Medium-Size Steamer!
Summary: 5 Stars

I just received my GS4 (amazon regular shipping arrived in just 3 days!) and I am very impressed! I have had smaller, hand-held steamers before that just don't get the wrinkles out, and I didn't want to get a huge, clunky industrial steamer. The GS4 is a very good size and does a nice job. I used it last night on five suits and a few silk nightgowns and everything came out wrinkle free pretty quickly without needing to refill the machine. For me, this is much better than paying for dry-cleaning all of the time when things just need to be freshened up. It comes with a over-the-door hanger that is very helpful when you put the base on a chair (the hose is about 4 ft long and won't reach everything from the ground). I would recommend this steamer to anyone with garments that can't be ironed without being singed or anyone who is just unskilled at ironing--you need no skill for steaming.

Customer Review: using my neighbors - and will be buying one shortly
Summary: 5 Stars

I just got four new backdrops for my portrait studio...with lots of creases. I was looking a bunch of different steamers online and had no clue what to do...should I just get an industrial steamer? I had no idea. Well, I didn't have enough time to order one and get it in time to use the backdrops for an upcoming shoot, so I called my neighbor to see if he had one. I just got half of a backdrop done using this steamer and it's doing the trick. I've never used one before, so I really have nothing to compare it to. But what I do know is that when I've got several 10ft x 20ft backdrops and this seems to be doing the trick...I'm happy.

It also seems to be easy to handle and stable, which, when working with steam is a must.

In summary, I plan on ordering this very model in the next 24 hours.

Customer Review: Nice little steamer for the price
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this steamer for my studio backdrops based on a photographer's review on a blog that this was the cheapest alternative to buy that worked. I've never really used one before, but I had it setup easily without bothering with the instructions much. It did take about 5 minutes to start producing steam, but I wasn't expecting it to boil water like my Keurig. I just thought about how long it takes to boil some water on the stove and that's about how long it takes. It was taking out the wrinkles immediately and sure it's going to take some time to steam a background that's 10ft wide. It does the job and it fit my budget, and I'm happy I listened to the blogger that suggested the model.

Customer Review: The Best Cheap Steamer I've Tried
Summary: 5 Stars

I have owned 4 steamers. One was the SteamMax Vapor Steam Cleaner, and at $700.00 it was wonderful and I used it for everything. I also owned one for $70 bucks that was very good and unfortunately cannot rememember the name. But, in the under $30 range, this is the only one that actually worked in one pass over fabric. There are some techniques I used to keep splattering to a minimum, like getting all my clothes on hangers in a pile, ready to be steamed, and a place to move the finished ones close by. In a short period, I steamed all my laundry. And I pull the fabric down at the ends which helps the wrinkles come out more easily. I am interested in seeing how long this product lasts.

Customer Review: Great for making synthetic dreadlocks!
Summary: 5 Stars

If you're looking for a steamer to seal your synthetic hair dread extentions, this one will work like a dream. It's hot enough, steamy enough, you don't have to add water very often, and best of all, it's nowhere near as expensive as the other upright models. Why pay an additional 100 dollars for a pole? This steamer comes with an over-the-door hook to hold the steamy end of the device as it warms up or when you aren't using it (to let the water in the tube drain back into the reservoir), and works just as well as any pole.

I also steam our clothing with it, it's quicker and safer than any iron.

Amazing price for such a useful product.
