Everyone should have one of these. You can drill screws somewhere to hang this when you want it up and slide it off the screws to remove it for storage when you're not using it. A cool idea.
p.s. line tangled inside unit around wheel and could not be fixed without breaking it open. It should be designed so that you can open the unit and fix the placement of the line.

I was thrilled to find this on Amazon as had purchased one nearly 8 years ago that finally gave out - same exact model. bought a couple this time - use one in the laundry room and one outside by shed for spouses garage rags etc.. both are convenient, sturdy, easy to use and durable. Perfect for small areas, would also be great for camping or anywhere you need a durable little line.Customer Review: Great value. Simple solution

True, it won't hold any weight if you don't use the cleat on the bottom. But if you follow the instructions, it works flawlessly. In a perfect world, this might lock on it's own (like a window shade). But if they put that locking mechanism in it, I suspect it would just be a bigger hassle to get the line tight. Just installed the base and after adjusting the tension with the cleat on the bottom (be sure to read instructions) hung clothes on my porch to dry for the afternoon. This is perfect for drying clothes quickly, then I just retract it out of sight when not in use. Really exactly what I needed and very inexpensive for the value provided. This was a very reasonably priced clothesline. It serves the purpose of what I intended...to hold light clothing like shirts, blouses,
pants as well as the best part of not having to use my electric clothes dryer. It is not strong enough to hold blankets however, I did not expect that it would. It was easily installed and so far appears to be durable.
