Tools and Hardware Reviews of Culligan WSH-C125 Wall-Mount 10,000 Gallon Capacity Filtered Showerhead, Chrome Finish

Customer Review: My entire body says thank you.
Summary: 5 Stars

I moved into my apt. a few years ago.
Our city gets our water from wells.
Yes, it goes through the usual "purification" methods.
In other words in the last two years my skin and scalp have staged their own mini revolution against me for showering in this water.
If you can even call it water, more like taking a shower in chlorine with enough sediment and other crap to stain the entire tub.
Yuck.
So...I searched high, and I searched low and luckily I found the Culligan Shower Filter and all I can say is....WOW.
WOW that one product has garnered over 80 reviews and almost every single one of them positive.

I'm not exactly Mr. Fixit around the home so I was a little intimidated with having to install this myself.
And?
To all of us home improvement impaired people I say...fear not!!!
All you have to do is unscrew the old showerhead, wrap some white tape around the pipe threading (included) and screw on the new showerhead.
I had it done in five minutes, and zero leakage so far.
I didn't even have to remove the flow restrictor and my water pressure is better with this head than the old one.

Showering in hard water for the last two years has made my skin dry, itchy, and red.
My scalp was breaking out, yes acne, EWWWW!!!
And now?
After only four days my skin.........ahhhh.
When you get out of the shower and towel off it feels like you've already applied lotion.
My hair feels normal again and my scalp which was dry, itchy, and had enough pimples to qualify for my own anti acne commercial has almost entirely cleared up.
No more itchy, no more pain, no more redness and with winter coming on quick, winter itch has been unbearable the last couple of years.
I'm expecting this to be much improved this year.

So far I have absolutely zero complaints about this product.
It's cheap.
The filters last six months if you're the only person in your house.
The filters are cheap also.

All in all, a win win for me.
Thank you Culligan, and thank you other reviewers who pointed me in the direction of this product.
My skin and hair love you!!!
Highly recommended!!!

Customer Review: Worth every penny, love it!

Read the reviews and decided to try it for myself, I speak very highly of this shower head/filter and the best part of all it is easy to install.

I removed the water restrictor (small plastic plug and small O ring seal that are removed with tweezers) because the water pressure was not to my liking. It is designed to emit 2.5 gallons a minute with the restrictor installed but I would have to think it is less than that, I do not care about saving water, I want to get in, do my business and get out asap. After removing the restrictor the the flow was actually better than what I had before with the older/original shower head.

Immediately felt the difference with the first shower, I have a shower mirror used for shaving and the water softness was remarkable, so much so that I knew immediately something was different, remarkably close shave that seemed to be quicker (so probably saving water anyways).

Only negs I can say; it is hard as heck to change the shower head setting if your hands are wet and the pivot to adjust the position of the shower head is weak and will not hold in position except for a few spots. Luckily the position that I use is perfect but there basically is no adjustment for sideways or slightly down or further to the back of the shower as the pivot ball is weak and will let the shower head just dangle down towards the drain. Set at a normal height and position it does stay in place. Weird huh? You would think Culligan would research their product in the real world before they mass produced them as this issue with the pivot ball seems to be a steady complaint in the online reviews for this product!

Regardless, I do recommend this filter/shower head; makes your skin/hair feel great, you rinse super clean and water pressure is more than adequate. Price is very fair for what you get, replacement cartridges are pricey but IMHO worth every cent. I suspect since I took the water restrictor out the filter will need to be replaced every 4 months in place of 6 months as the manufacturer suggested but small price to pay for removing chlorine, fluoride etc... from the water. After all, your skin is considered an organ and any chemicals you will not come into contact with the better.

Customer Review: It's true

I've been struggling with dry hair for a year or more. I was even using expensive salon shampoos and conditioners to no avail. Last fall, I had ordered a Culligan FM-15A Faucet Filter for my kitchen sink because I was concerned about our water quality. I've been very pleased with that product. Then, I figured that if the water was bad to drink, it was probably not so good to be bathing/showering in.

I ordered this product based on all the great reviews I had read. It was incredibly easy to install and it looks very nice. The water pressure is great. Within a week or two, I started noticing that my skin and hair are much softer to the touch. I always have a rough, dry left elbow beccause I have a lot of scar tissue there but after using this filter, it feels just like the rest of my skin. My hair is much healthier looking and easier to manage. I have fewer fly-aways and I'm not seeing as much hair come out in the shower.

I will eventually be ordering the Culligan HSH-C135 Hand-Held Filtered Showerhead 10,000-Gallon Capacity with 5-Foot Metal Hose, Chrome Finish to use for bathing my dogs since I have noticed that they seem to have dry skin, as well.

UPDATE: I installed the filter back in May and it is now the beginning of September. About 2 weeks ago, I noticed that my hair was dull and dry again. I installed a new filter cartridge last week and have noticed an improvement in my hair. I'm a little disappointed that the filter only lasted about 3 months, instead of the full 6 months, but with the reasonable cost of the replacement cartridges and the benefits I get from using it, I'm not that upset about it.

Also, FYI, if you are ordering replacement cartridges directly from Amazon, try to place your order several weeks in advance of when you will be needing it because it seems like this is a popular item that gets sold out and sometimes cannot be shipped for several weeks.

I bought two of these, one for my shower and one for my boyfriends. They came with simple instructions, troubleshooting tips (such as what to do if you experience reduced water flow or if you need to increase the water pressure) and were very easy to install. We chose to remove the flow restrictor from both showerheads and the water pressure is 'perfect' for us. The massage settings feel greeeeat on the back but are pretty much useless for actually showering in (too narrow of a stream). The regular shower setting is just right.

Personally, I've noticed a dramatic change in my hair and skin after having switched to this showerhead. What I used to think was dry skin on account of harsh winter weather may have actually been dry skin on account of bathing in chlorinated water. My hair is noticiably softer and silkier and even my boyfriend has been appreciating how nice and soft 'his' hair feels since making the switch :). Some natural highlights which I thought I had lost in my younger years are also reappearing(pretty auburn and blond colors). This surprised me a bit since it would seem to make sense that my hair should darken in the absence of chlorine but hey, I'm not complaining! As for my skin, I still moisturize after I get out of the shower but I no longer feel embarassed about my dry shins (in the past, no amount of lotion could really help them) and I've noticed that my face looks brighter and I no longer develops those temporary but still embarassing red shower splotches.

I realize that the longevity of the filter will depend on the frequency of which we shower (excessively) as well as how long we shower. Since we each have our own bath, I'm hoping that we can realistically get 3 months from them. I've already bought us each a replacement filter but will stock up on a few more to make sure we never go without. When you consider the actual daily expense for filtering your shower water it really isn't all that bad. My next purchase will be one of those bath water filtering balls. I'm really looking forward to some relaxing 'non-chlorinated' baths! :)

Customer Review: Wonderful shower head!
Summary: 5 Stars

When I first moved into my new apartment the first thing I noticed about the water was all the stuff that was in it. The kitchen tap water was a milky white color with fizzy bubbles. I thought this was a temporary thing. Then I took my first shower and came out sputtering from the shock of it. Whatever they put into the water around here, it should be illegal.

My skin felt like I'd been sunburned and my hair was a mess. It felt just like how if I'd spent a summer swimming in a pool! My hair texture changed after ONE shower! It was rough and straw like. I was pretty bewildered because I used a special shampoo that had until then kept my long hair that's naturally prone to frizz under control. Another side effect of the new shower experience in my apartment was my skin psoriasis I have on my neck flared up. Unbelieveable.

So I immediately concluded the water was to blame. After researching several websites for a water filter I came to Amazon. Reading the reviews it was hard to choose. Everyone made these things out to be miracle cure alls. I bought this skeptically but also out of desperation.

It really is a huge difference. The water pressure is great especially if you have very long hair like me. The settings are a nice bonus. It's very simple to change out the shower head and I recommend this product to anyone. After using it there is no more chlorine feel, I'm not bombarded with whatever is in the water around here making my skin flare up. After using this my hair can be brushed again without feeling scratchy or sun soaked. I'm so glad I spent the small amount for this big investment in my showering experience.

I don't know what else to say except this is well worth buying.
