Tools and Hardware Reviews of Diamond Machining Technology CS2 12-Inch Ceramic SteelCustomer Review: Diamond Machining Technology 12-Inch Ceramic Steel Does The Job Summary: 5 Stars
The Diamond Machining Technology 12-Inch Ceramic Steel works quite well to maintain an edge on all of my kitchen knives and wood carving knives and gouges once an edge has been established. The edge it leaves is a smooth, polished surface which reduces the need for frequent abrasive sharpenings.
Initially the somewhat lower the typical price was the motivating factor for this purchase but now that I have used it I am quite impressed by its quality construction, its ease of use and the fine edge it puts on my blades. It did require some use to remove a powdery white residue from its firing but I have not found any other inconveniences with this cermac "steel." I like it.
Customer Review: Ceramic Knife Sharpener/manual Summary: 5 Stars
Diamond Machining Technology 12-Inch Diamond Steel Shapening Rod, Fine GritThis knife sharpener is the BEST.Although I have other sharpeners and steels for my knives. I use this one the most. The grit and length are perfect. I would prefer that the company include a usage/instruction note to future puchasers(proper angle). Cleaning--is easy,a little ajax or comet cleanser and water keep the ceramic rod from getting clogged. The sharpener also has a larger safety guard covering the handle than other sharpening steels or ceramic sharpeners.
Customer Review: Perfect "steel" Summary: 5 Stars
The purpose off a "steel" is to straighten out the tiny roll the blade edge develops as you use a sharp knife. This roll is what makes a knife start to feel dull. I've found that using this rod every time before I use the knife makes a terrific difference in how sharp the knife feels and how long the edge lasts.
This is the perfect tool to keep that super edge on your fine knives. A couple of very light (just enough presure to keep contact) strokes per side, at a shade more than the angle use to sharpen the blade, and that edge is straight and ready to glide through your food.
Customer Review: Very nice product. Summary: 5 Stars
This is a bit finer then the extra fine rod. It is fact a step between the X fine and the XX fine coming in a 7 microns or 2200 grit. It's ceramic not diamond. OK, all that being said. This is a great tool to keep a fine edge on an already sharp knife. It is NOT a sharpener. It is a honing tool. If you know how to hone a blade, use this. It's a great tool and very well made.
Customer Review: Solid and Commercial Grade Summary: 5 Stars
This is not a flimsy kitchen store tool. It is very solid, commercial grade kitchen tool. Besides fitting my hand very well, I appreciate the unbreakable ceramic material the steel is made of. I have ordered several styles of DMT steels and have been very happy with the quality product that they provide.
