I bought this for lights in a room. all you do is plug each receiver into an outlet and the electronic device into the receivers outlet. Put the battery in the remote. Then you turn the outlet on.
Then you can use it. Press the according button and the light turns out (or electrical device). however, 10 feet is the best range. Any farther than that and it can be finicky, sometimes is finicky at that range. What I mean is that when you press the button the light won't always turn on and you have to get closer or wave the remote around (while holding down the button). Any more than 10 feet and you usually need line of sight to receiver. Other than that it works great.
I don't have to walk over the the light and bend down to turn it on.
I velcro'd the remote to the wall so I can use it like a normal light switch. And since it is velcro I can pull it off if it won't turn on the light.

I ordered the same product (shown) that I had bought previously but was sent a different product. I was sent a remote with an antenna and on/off buttoms for each wall outlet. It's not as simple as the one shown, and I do not like it as much, but it completes the task needed and I did not want to incur the cost of returning and getting what I actually ordered. Nothing wrong with the product though, just not as simplistic as I wanted. The product that's in the photo actually works wonderfully, so much so that I wanted more--just didn't get them.

Bought these remote outlets for a weekend cabin so I could switch key outlets on and off quickly and easily on arrival and departure. Nice idea but when power is cut to these units (during a power outage for example) they do not switch back on of their own accord (even if they were on at the time that the power went off). This feature made them useless for the purpose I intended (refrigerator, security lights etc) so I have used them only for interior lamps. Otherwise the units work as intended.

I had to take the switch apart to screw it to the wall next to my regular wall switch. Without doing this, I would have lost the remote, but it has worked for over 5 months so far no problems, just wish it had a hole on the back of remote to mount to the wall, otherwise it would have a 5 star review.
