Tools and Hardware Reviews of DSI Outlet Wireless Remote Wall Outlets, 3 Outlets with 1 Remote

Customer Review: Wireless Remote Wall Outlets
Summary: 4 Stars

We are very happy with this product. It works like a charm. A couple of cautions: it is a bit bulky so you need a bit of space to install it. Also, the outlets need to have an unobstructive line of vision for the remote to work. We liked it so much that we bought a second set as gift for our son-in-law.

Customer Review: Works very well!
Summary: 4 Stars

Range is excellent, and the product appears to be well made. I use it to turn on/off my bar lights and neon signs. One small concern; if u are running the microwave, the switch may not work - until your dinner is done!

Customer Review: Works Very Well

These actually work pretty well. The only complaint is if it is too far from the switch then it might now work, but they all work great in my living room.

Have been in use now for about 3 weeks. Works well so far. I like this item.

Customer Review: Great Idea, Poor Design.
Summary: 3 Stars

I bought this for my bedroom so I would be able to turn on/off my light on my dresser, desk, and hanging lamp. I was really happy to get it and try it out, but I ran into quite a few problems before I was able to use it and get it the way I wanted.

First of all, it didn't come with a battery, and the battery itself is an obscure type. (23A 12V)I had to go to 3 different stores before I found the correct size. It should have come with a battery if they were going to use such a strange type. Also the design could have been made more "power strip friendly." If you plug in 2 of them on one power strip, it takes up the entire space, so I had to rearrange where I plugged in my stuff to make it work. Also, I had to move my furniture at least another 2 inches away from the wall to make them fit into the power strip behind my desk. (Which was inconvenient for me since I live in an apartment with limited space and have carpet) So if you plan on plugging these into a power strip, you'll probably want to purchase these with it to fix this problem:

But once I got my room the way that I liked, I will say that it does make things easier and the concept is really neat, and its a lot of fun to use. It does exactly what its supposed to do with out any problems, so it gets an A for functionality. (The only reason I gave it a 3rd star) I do get a lot of pleasure out of using it, but for what it is, I didn't think it would require so much effort to "setup." In fact, I wasn't planing on a setup at all, and I wasn't planing on it being a hassle. I definitely wasn't planing on having to buy something else to make up for what its lacking. I wasn't expecting a strange battery and having to hunt one down. I wasn't expecting it to be so bulky and take up all the room on my power strip. And I wasn't expecting to have to rearrange my cords and move my furniture farther away from the wall. If the company did a better job designing a more streamlined product there wouldn't be these problems, but they should have figured that out long before they released it to the public. (I mean come on, all wall outlets are the same size and have been that way for years!) They should be able to figure out a way to make it without it being so bulky and blocking the rest of your outlets.

But if you don't plan on using it on a daily basis like me, like for Christmas lights or for lights for a hallway or something, I think it would still be useful to you and you would find it rather handy. Cause come on, remote controlled lights are pretty cool, and the concept is still a really good idea. Its just too bad the design made it, for me anyways, into such a hassle. I don't know what the clapper looks like, but you might want to check that out before you make your decision.
