Tools and Hardware Reviews of DeLonghi TRH0715 Oil Filled Radiator HeaterCustomer Review: Very Happy with my purchase Summary: 5 Stars
I'm a college student and I bought this after my boyfriend suggested I purchase an oil filled heater (he did the research on types and brands for me). Amazon by far has the best deal on this and free shipping! I bought it to heat my room that I rent in a house that is kept way too cold for my standards. I was so worried the heating bill would go up the first month, but it hasn't gone up where she has noticed. I turn it on for an hour at the most and I keep my door shut (sometimes, less than 20 minutes). My entire room is filled with warmth and stays that way all night.
Please note that when you first use it (and it states this in the directions) that a funny smell occurs and will for a few uses. It does go away though. I am so happy with my purchase and can highly recommend this to heat a room. I'm not sure how it does with larger areas-I imagine fine, just would take longer to heat the area.
Customer Review: best oil-filled heater Summary: 5 Stars
This is a steady-performing, stably thermostat-controlled (I mostly use setting #3) and economical heater. I prefer this model to DeLonghi "Dragon" because it's more efficient if you use it on the first floor and have stairs to the 2nd. The "Dragon" thing is pumping hot air very actively upstairs while this model have very reasonable lateral heat distribution. It's not for warming you up while you sit nearby, but for warming the entire room when you have the unit steadily on.
Other obvious advantages -- no noise, only gentle clicking sounds when thermostate turns heating elements on/off and no initial burning smells reported by others (maybe just my luck). Pretty elegant looking thing. Perfect for a large closed bedroom, though I use it also in a living room permanently open to the stairs.
Customer Review: DeLonghi Oil Filled Radiator With Manual Controls Summary: 5 Stars
Heater works very well. It is almost entirely silent, just occassionally there is the slightest sound as the oil heats up and the metal expands, almost like the sound of oil heating in a fry pan. There is a slight click whenever the thermostat cycles the heat back on but all heaters do that as far as I know. There was a strong smell initially but I checked DeLonghi's web page FAQ for oil heaters and it says about 20 hours of use at the high setting is needed to burn off a harmless powder that is used to protect the element while in shipping. There are a lot of holes punches into all the radiator fins probably to increase the rate of heat transfer to the air. They look kind of funny compared to other heaters but they obviously work or DeLonghi would not have put them there.
Customer Review: Great when used properly Summary: 5 Stars
I've had an older but similar model 6507L for 7 years now - still works perfectly without incident. For rapid warm-up, I set the thermostat for higher heat and use a DeLonghi DAP110F electrostatic air cleaner to gently blow air through the fins. The combo is quiet and effective. Any low-velocity fan should work for rapid warm-up, but the air cleaner is nice in my confined room. Also nice is that the fan can be turned off and the thermostat turned down for near-silent operation once the room is up to temperature. A little experimentation will pay dividends for years to come.
Customer Review: DeLonghi heater Summary: 5 Stars
Our DeLonghi heater has been working great. Our heat pump went out in a spare room; it was really cold weather. When heater came, we plugged in heater with both lo and hi going. In minutes, the room was warmer; soon, we turned off the hi heat and let the lo take over. We have had an old DeLonghi for twenty years or so. The whole family has used it from time to time. This new one is just as good and seems like it cost less than our old, original heater. If we ever need another, DeLonghi is what we are buying.
