Tools and Hardware Reviews of DeLonghi DFH132 SafeHeat Fan Heater

Customer Review: The littliest titan
Summary: 5 Stars

This little heater is just the ticket. Small, nearly silent & works like a dream. The best feature is the ambient temp regulator. It will cycle on & off to keep you toasty based on the temp of the room. Dial it low to warm up just a few degrees if your area is not that cold or crank it up high if your space is freezer frigid like my office. Set at the max and it stays on & really does a bang up job of heating up the place. Not sure I would buy to heat larger rooms but it would be great for a small mud room or that spot in the basement where you like to curl up with a book. I keep mine under my desk at work & the small size is fabulous. Stays out of the way and only I know it's running, it's that quiet. I like the fan only option as well. Our climate control at the office is pretty much a joke during the spring when the weather goes from cold to warm. The fan will absolutely be a mood saver for me then. If it's going to be hot, I need the air moving at least a bit. I would highly recommend this item. Lots of bang for the buck & it does what it says it will do. Hard to say that about alot of products these days. Big thumbs up to the folks at DeLonghi for a great little item that saved me from showing up at work in Mukluks & a parka.

Customer Review: Liked the first so much I bought 2 more!
Summary: 5 Stars

Perfect little heater to warm a single room. We use it to help keep the living room warm during the cold winter. We live in a older house with drafty windows and our heating system can get a workout on the coldest of winter nights. This heater keeps the living room warm and reduces the amount of time the thermostat has to go on. I thought the first one was so good, I went ahead and bought two more from Amazon. To my surprise, the price had actually gone down $5 when I purchased the other two units. This is an unbeatable value for under $20. We use the extra heaters to help warm the bathrooms in the morning or before we give our kids a bath. And the units are so portable you can move them around the house as needed with little effort.

The only minor drawback is the difficulty in seeing the markings on the dials, as has been stated by several other reviewers. But, just turn it up to high to warm to room initally and when you reach your desired comfort level, just dial back the thermostat until it clicks off. You never even really have to look at the dials because you'll get a feel for it.

Overall a great little unit at an unbeatable price. One of the best purchases I've ever made from Amazon.

Customer Review: DeLonghi SafeHeat Fan Heater
Summary: 5 Stars

I LOVE this little heater. It is one of my favorite purchases within it's price range. Now, you can't buy this heater expecting it to heat a huge room in your home (that's not what it's meant to do) but I use it in my bedroom and I live in a very old townhouse with very drafty windows, and it makes a huge difference in keeping the temperature in the room comfortable. I like that you can set the dials and then it turns on and off on it's own ... keeping the temperature consistent. I generally only use it on the lowest setting (1) and between the heat setting of 2-3 on the opposite dial. It's very small so I can set it up on a little footstool so it's at the same level as the bed. It's very quiet and small, and I prefer it over the larger more "hazardous" space heaters. I've had mine for several years and never had any issues with it breaking, etc. But I also only use it during the winter months, and I am pretty gentle with my appliances. I'm going to get one for my mother for her birthday - she has a two-story room that gets very cold in the winter. She said she doesn't like space heaters but this one is so small and doesn't get hot, so she will be able to set it on her end table in the living room just like a small fan.

Customer Review: Great heater w/fan feature, thermostat
Summary: 5 Stars

First off, I want to say that I've owned this heater/fan for at least 6 years. Bought it for my office at work, and it is on nearly every day (yes, I'm one of those "chilly" women!)
Pros about this heater:
--Fairly quiet (I keep it right under my desk in my small office at work and I can still talk on the phone)
--Compact size
--Designed so that it really can't tip over (you'd have to push it over)
--The front "fins" stick out enough so you could never touch the hot part
--The controls are easy to use without looking at them. I keep my heater tucked away under my desk and I can just use the controls by touch.
There are two dials:
The left side controls the heat or fan setting: high heat, low heat, fan, off.
The right side allows you to adjust the thermostat setting (how hot it must get before the fan kicks on or shuts off).
I tend to keep the heater on the high heat setting, but can always kick it on or off by just reaching down and moving the thermostat dial over a bit.

The ONLY con to this heater is that after over 6 years of daily use, it finally conked out on me and I have to see if I can find another one. :(

Customer Review: If you don't expect it to heat the whole house, you'll love it.

One room at a time and this is the space heater for you. I purchased two of these little fans after fighting with Vornado Heaters through two winters. While I loved the Vornado I would never purchase one again (2 of these cost a third of the price!). I don't have drafts anymore so I don't know how well it works if you have a drafty living area.

The ups: Easy to use dials. Puts out plenty of heat to take care of average sized rooms (I use one in a 15' X 10' and on in a 40' hallway). Works well with it's own climate control settings (holds the temp where you set it), but since it's not digital you have to set it the old fashion way (letting it get as hot as you want it in the room and then slowly turning it down until it clicks off). It also has plenty of length in the cord. It's quiet and it's small.

The downs: Must be unplugged to be turned off. This is very annoying to me because I don't trust them enough to leave them on when I leave the house so it feels like I am always unplugging them.

It'll be interesting to see how well they work when the temps hit the 0 mark.
