Bought this based strictly on Amazon reviews, which BTW I think is a great way to buy.
I've had it a week and it works great.
I have a 10x12 room with my computer and a small TV where I have my morning coffee so for the first 3-4 hours of the day I'm only heating this room. It's 28 outside today, the rest of my house is 60, and my room is a comfortable 70 with this unit on low heat (2 speed high 1500/low 750) and the thermostat set between 2 and 3 (offers 1-6).
Some have remarked that the controls are a little difficult. I used a fine tip black magic marker and highlighted the numbers and that was a good fix. You'll get a feel for the controls in a day or so anyway and now that it's set I just plug it in every morning. The cord and housing have been cool to the touch, heats well, thermostat cycles with no problem. For $20 it's a good value.

Okay...so I'd have to think seriously for a minute about all the times I've spent 20 bucks on something, BUT....here it is April 2010 and I bought this heater in November 2009 ( for my first East Coast winter). Not only did it save my life throughout the freezing winter (some new yorkers say..'oh this was a mild winter'...I say...get over yourselves and stop being so tough. It was COLLLLLDDD especially for this California girl), but I'm sitting here in 'Spring', it's rainy and cold out and of course....my little heater is faithfully blazing away. It's doing such a good job in fact, that I thought to write a review 6 months later? You bet. I love it. I'm sitting here just admiring it doing its thing. Will it heat your whole house? No. Will it heat a bedroom, especially one the size found in typical NY apartments. Yes...and many times over. I heart Delonghi.Customer Review: I love my little heater

I keep the heater on my desk and it works great. It puts out enough heat for me to feel cozy at work. I don't think it would be so great in a large area, but for what I need/want it for, it's perfect.
My old heater started making a scary noise and I junked it. When I first got this DeLonghi heater, I was a little disappointed because the heat wasn't as strong as my old heater. But, then I remembered I would have to move the old heater away from me frequently because it would start cooking me! So, throughout the day, I would have to move the old one towards me and away from me, towards me and then later away from me. The DeLonghi heater gives me a nice, steady comfortable warmth the whole time I have it on.
I've had it for 3 months and use it for several hours 5X a week, and I'm very happy with it.

I hesitated before buying this product because it doesn't look so aesthetically pleasing but that can be overlooked!
Pros: heats.... INSTANTLY! No waiting if your freezing in winter. Small, portable, able to use as a fan for summer or as a heater for winter. GREAT price. It actually doesn't look that bad in person. Fan is pretty quiet.
Cons: I don't understand why there are 6 levels on the knob for Fan. It seems to only have one speed and turns on and off around 3. The fan is not very powerful but I used it today on a very hot and humid day and it was sufficient. The red light on top doesn't ever turn off when it's plugged in.
Conclusion? Can't get a better deal for the price.... overall, very happy with my purchase!

For a $15 space heater to still be running 3 or 4 years after purchase, especially these days when many products are of such poor quality, you cannot beat these things. I bought 3 of these heaters several years ago, and I still use them regularly (one of them I use every day at work, except for on weekends). They are an unbelievable bargain, and I know that I've saved hundreds using these in the winter. (I use one of the heaters to keep my bedroom warm at night in the winter instead of running the central heat.) The heaters give off a lot of heat and warm a space up very quickly. These heaters are far more-effective than the $80 Vornado heater my friend bought a while back, and when these ones stop working, I'll buy more.
