Tools and Hardware Reviews of Dead On Tools DO-300 Killer Chiller Mobile Cooler/Lunch box, BlackCustomer Review: Great bag but the liner rips Summary: 4 Stars
I've had the bag for about 6 weeks now and it's working out great. I use the bottom compartment to carry my lunch and the top for my wallet, book, gloves etc.
The only problem is that the liner of the top compartment has ripped at both ends where the wire frame, which makes the bag sturdy and holds it open, folds... The liner isn't flexible enough to fold like that so it cracks and then rips.
I doubt I'll ever use the top compartment as a cooler anyhow, so I still love the bag - I'll probably remove the liner or patch it with gaffer tape sometime.
Customer Review: Self employed Summary: 4 Stars
I love the size of the Dead On lunch box but the bottom section should have rigid sides.
Customer Review: Sturdy, Roomy, Insulated, ZIPPERS ARE IMPOSSIBLE Summary: 3 Stars
If it were not so hard to get into the bag and to zip it closed, then this bag would surely be rated at 5 stars. Even though it is rather heavy even empty, that is not a deal breaker, because that goes along with a rugged go everywhere, do anything kind of bag. This is my daughter's school lunch bag and her insulated stainless steel Bento Thermos fits in the bottom compartment with room to spare and the top holds her juice, yogurt, napkin and fork, spoon and whatever else she might want to toss in.
I pack her Bento Box and it is her job to get everything into the lunch box, zip it and put it near the door to be ready to grab as we head out. I can depend on groans and scowls and other grunts and outburst of frustration as she tries to close the thing up every morning. Occassionally she gets a good, smooth pull and that is such a simple pleasure for everyone. It is even hard for me when i must stop what i am doing to offer assistance. If I had to do it again, I would probably try to find a different bag, even if i had to sacrifice a bit on size and sturdiness, to get fewer morning headaches.
Customer Review: too heavy Summary: 3 Stars
If you are into protecting food from bears (or hungry co-workers not good w/ zippers), this lunch sack is the one for you.
I never thought I'd complain that something is TOO durably made, but this lunch sack is overkill. The zippers are massive and the material is way too heavy. The (unnecessary) material added extra weight/bulk that made this too difficult to put inside my (large) backpack with other necessities such as books and a laptop.
I can see how something like this would be beneficial for construction-type, workers as an alternative to the plastic coolers some use to carry food, however.
Customer Review: Way too big for a school lunch box Summary: 3 Stars
Thought it would be good for my middle school son but it really is made for a steelworker - two breaks and lunch. Well-made and very cool but just too big for school. Kept this one and he takes it for skiing - holds snacks and lunch and dinner! For everyday use bought Fugu Lunch Tote. That item works great and has an acceptable middle-school profile.
