Received this unit about a month ago. We presently use a Slant Fin unit in our den to subsidize the comfort level of a heat pump. I was looking for a unit to use in our utility room where there is no heat, to prevent pipe freeze up and make comfortable when doing laundry.
I would take the best unit and keep in the Den and use the other for the utility room.
Out of the box, the Delonghi had a pleasant appearance with no assembly needed, other than installing the batteries in the remote. I'll keep the Slant Fin in the Den.
Pros: 1) Appearance
2) Size (It's not too large or heavy)
3) It has a sweeping mode option that directs the heat.
4) Puts out plenty of heat for a space heater.
5) Has a thermostat.
6) Seems to be built well.
7) Has low & high heat output.
Cons: 1) The fan is too loud to be in a living area and watch TV, etc.
2) The fan has one speed (High) and always on.
3) The Remote is not convenient. Has no display and can't see display on unit from afar. Really only useful to turn unit on and engaging the sweeping feature. For instance, you can change the temp setting, but, you can't see what it is from afar.
4) If power is lost, unit won't come back on by itself. Have to manually turn on and reset up all options. Not good for keeping pipes from freezing.
5) Has a light when plugged in, but not when on and functioning. You have to go look at the display to tell if functioning.
If the Remote had a display, the unit had a memory for when power comes back on, and the fan had a low and off option, it could get 5 stars, but without it only rates three, in my humble opinion. A low speed might be more quiet while operating.
