Tools and Hardware Reviews of DeLonghi EW7707CM Oil-filled Radiator with ComforTemp Technology

Customer Review: Wonderful when used properly (e.g. at night).
Summary: 5 Stars

After reading many of the reviews on Amazon, I purchased this delonghi heater. I can't be happier with its performance. I believe the more positive reviews are a result of using this heater as it was designed - to gradually maintain a slow heat in a small-mid sized enclosed room (say, 20x20 with 9' ceilings). If you want to quickly heat a large room with a blast of hot air, get something with a fan or turn up the thermostat.

We use this heater at night. It does such an effective job of keeping our room at a comfortable 70F (even at lower settings), that we have programmed our central heat thermostat to go down to 60F at night. Of course, the effectiveness of the heater is also dependent on how well your house is insulated.

There were some comments about the heater getting hot to the touch. Well, yes, of course it does - it's a heater! But even at it's highest setting, the metal is not sizzling. It is well insulated enough that you can touch it for a few seconds before it gets uncomfortable - plenty of time for the occasional times you may bump into it. At lower settings - this isn't even an issue.

Why an oil-filled heater? It produces a very gentle heat without drying the air like a conventional ceramic or electric heater.

Why the delonghi? Gentle heat without any sound. We purchased the Honeywell 7-Fin Oil-Filled Radiator Heater as well (they were out of stock of the delonghi), and while it heats fine, it creaks and cracks when you use it. I'm sure this is due to the metal expanding and contracting as it gets warmer and cooler. It's not a huge problem, but if you are a light sleeper, it may be an annoyance.

The only downside I can think of is the wheels. Doesn't roll well on carpet - which is fine, we don't' move it much anyway. But overall, love the delonghi. We've had it for 2 weeks now and I hope it lasts this way for several years.

Customer Review: Works perfectly well, zero complaints!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought the DeLonghi Oil-filled Radiator with ComforTemp, the DeLonghi Micathermic flat panel model, and the Oil-filled Radiator without ComfortTemp. All of them work GREAT.

I have each one in a section of my @1800sq.ft.house, so that I can heat just the rooms that we are using, instead of turning on central gas heat.
The ComforTemp model heats up our entire great room/family room/dining room and kitchen, which is one big open space with hardwood floors and gets chilly.

The Micathermic model I use to warm up the hallway, bathroom, and kids' bedrooms, especially at night (on a low setting).

The non-ComforTemp model I use to warm up the master bedroom and bathroom.

They all do a fantastic job. Our house is warm, cozy, quiet and comfortable...MUCH more so that when we used the gas forced air central heating, which is incredibly loud, drafty, too hot and dry when it's on, and too cold when it's not.

There were a bunch of comments about the smell of the heaters when new. Well, there was a bit of smell on the first day using the heaters, but it's totally gone now, and it was never really that bad.

There were a bunch of negative comments about the heaters being noisy. Well, if the heater is really cold it does make a few popping noises when it starts heating up (which go away once it's warm) and there is a quiet clicking noise from the thermostat when the heater turns on and off. Seriously, anyone who is bothered by those tiny noises needs to get off the crack already. They are MINOR. It is unreasonable to expect perfect silence, although that's what you get 99% of the time with all three of these heaters.

Honestly, I couldn't be more pleased. I love these heaters and they were a great investment. I have already seen a drop in our utility bills, though our house is warmer and cozier than it was before.

I most highly recommend DeLonghi oil-filled radiators, as well as the micathermic flat panel.

Customer Review: Great product! My propane bill was 553.for a month
Summary: 5 Stars

I almost died when my propane tank was filled at the beginning of winter. $553. more than ever and I am totally unable to afford it. I had a heater, oil filled, I purchased at an auction for my daughter's room. It worked wonderfully. So after such a huge propane bill I decided to check on these wonderful little money savers and heat producers. The first bill from my daughters room and a heater in the living room added an additional $30. to the bill. Not running all the time mind you, the one in the living room was running around 10-12 hours a day and the bedroom one around 2-4 hours a night. Of course, it was not 10 degrees or 0 yet. Now I have purchased 3 more, each one different, one for the bathroom, one of my coldest rooms, one for the kitchen, and one for my dog room as I am a state licensed chihuahua breeder. The dog room usually got most of my heat in the house because it is my living and they really need to be warm. Well, that is where most of my propane bill came from as my daughter and myself were cold all the time in the rest of the house. Now we actually have warmth!!! This is the warmest this house has ever been with so much less money. I would think with the extra heaters now and running longer times due to 0 degrees now, that my bill may come in at around 100 extra a month. BIG DIFFERENCE from 553 a month on propane guys. Maybe a bit over the 100 but I would still take it if it was 150-200 a month more. Plus the added fact we are actually warm now. I did have to put in a few more electrical sockets but that is ok by me. Thanks for the great heaters that now actually keep us warm.I did choose 3 different ones for different places. But they all seem to be great. The one for the bathroom has a special plug, I guess because of the humidity.
DeLonghi EW7707CM Oil-filled Radiator with ComforTemp Technology

Customer Review: Love it! Love it! Love it!
Summary: 5 Stars

i had a smaller heater with fan b4. it made LOTS of NOISE, DRIED UP THE
AIR in my room, didn't distribute heat evenly, and eventually broke on me.

my current room:
- 11x12
- NO double-panned window in the room!
- Very cold during winter time (+/- 45F at nite), even though I live in CA.

after several researches & read others' reviews, i decided on DeLonghi EW7707CM. Got it 1 week ago & have been a happy customer since because:
1. got it @ $50 shipped.
2. it heats up the room EVENLY & didn't dry up the air & makes your room definitely COZIER!
3. very, very quiet.
4. i like the idea of 2 switches buttons (700 & 800 watts) for more control. You can turn both switches on for more power to generate heat faster & switch one off later when reach desired room temperature. OR, sometimes when i have to go run errands for just a bit, i'd leave it on at LOWER setting & come back in to my room still feeling warm.)

NOTE:
1. the "thermostat" button only shows 1-6 (not the real room temperature!)
2. when just started, you'll smell some stronger 'oil-burned' smell. & if you have a sensitive nose like me, you might still smell a tiny bit later on, but it Doesn't bother me AT ALL!!
3. i TURNED-OFF the ComforTemp 'coz i feel it gets too warm so i just use its "thermostat" controller.
4. the 2 wheels are nice too, but i haven't moved the heater since & just stick it on one spot. plus, my house is carpeted, & it might be a bit difficult to maneuver this 25lbs heater around the house.
5. And if i were to get a second heater, I'll definitely get a similar one with a TIMER on it. ^__^

Customer Review: Reliable for a year so far
Summary: 5 Stars

I live in the foggy city where temperatures are consistently low. I've been using this pretty much every day for a full year, so my opinion is based on heavy and frequent use of this radiator. I have nothing but positive things to say.

- It is space friendly, as it is somewhat compact.
- It is durable. I've kicked it around a bit, it doesn't tip very easily and is made of strong plastic and metal. It has never broken down despite my clumsiness knocking into it or knocking it into my furniture.
It is oxygen friendly. Unlike the two or three fan-based heaters I've had over the last 5 years, this does not suck the oxygen out of the room. My fan-based heaters left me warm but suffocating, and this does not.
- It is safe. I've accidently left it on walking out the door, and it has never shorted or burned anything except my sense of responsibility. I can't say its impossible, but within reasonable use my experience with it is that you'd probably have to place a box of tinder on it to actually get something to catch fire. The design is quite sensible, as the base is a little larger than the actual heated tower, discouraging you from accidently putting the radiator close to debris.
- As for heating power, here is a reference point: I use this in my bedroom with hardwood floors and drywall walls. The room is about 15 feet by 15 feet, and this little guy heats the room up in 5 to 10 minutes on the medium setting. I've never found it necessary to go any higher than medium.

This is a wonderfully priced solid radiator.
