Customer Review: I love this product
Summary: 5 Stars

I am really surprised to see all the negative reviews about this item. I purchased one three years ago, (from the local hardware store), and I love it. It continues to work great. Last night the outside temp was 21 degrees, and the heater kept a small bedroom (around 200 sq ft) a very comfortable 73 degrees. And this was with the heater set at the lower wattage (1100) and the thermostat number set to 3. It will not heat a room as quickly as a forced air heater. But then it doesn't have a motor or fan so that is to be expected. The heated air from this model is very comfortable not dry like the air from the furnace or space heater. I am currently in the market to purchase several more, (I've been rolling the one I have from room to room and decided it's time to stop). But after reading all the negative reviews from customers that purchased through AMAZON, I'm a bit skeptical about purchasing from here. (The following is just my opinion) But I believe the problem with the sparks was due to a cracked or broken panel. I purchased several flat panel (Econ) heaters when they were originally introduced to the market. One of the reoccurring problems was that they were not durable and if the panel was cracked or broken the heater would spark and malfunction. Final note. After the season is over, be careful how you store the heater. You want to place it in an area where it cannot be damaged by falling or having something heavy placed on top. I would store it as though it was made of glass.

Customer Review: Great Little Heater
Summary: 5 Stars

When we finished off part of our basement as a nice utility room (12 x 20) we also decided to use it as a spare bedroom if needed. Problem was -- its generally 10 - 15 degrees cooler than the rest of the house. Great for summertime to escape the heat but not good for sleeping during the winter even though the temperature where we live in Northern CA. is generally moderate. We considered baseboard heating but the cost of the heaters and installation was in the $1,000.00 range. It seems that any baseboard heater over 3 ft is 220, requires a separate circuit and professional installation.

I then decided to look for a space heater. When I found this heater for $89.00, which was highly rated by Consumer Reports, I said 'what the heck', at this price if it doesn't do the job, I'll use it in my Attic workshop. When we know we'll have guests sleeping over, we turn it on in the morning when we blow up the Air Bed. By early afternoon it's nice and cozy and we set the thermostatic control to maintain the temperature. Works great! It's really quiet. If you don't listen closely you can't tell if the fan is on.

I followed the suggestion of another reviewer and sit it on our patio for first use for about 4 hours. The initial burnoff odor would have been pretty obnoxious indoors. I'm glad I remembered to do this. Even though the instructions recommend doing it, who reads through all of the instructions before use?

It's light weight and mobile. Great little fan.

After considering user reviews and Consumer Reports' recommendation, I purchased this because of its safety, efficiency, and price. I am not sorry! I am using it in an old house where the heat is not evenly-distributed. I need to keep my ferret's area at an even temperature of around 70 degrees. Because of its design, this heater warms a much larger area directly, and an entire room indirectly, than a small space heater that blows hot air. I have an indoor digital thermometer (Walmart, $4.97) on the ferret's cage so using that, in conjunction with the heater's controls, I can control the room temperature. For greater satisfaction, read the user manual. It tells you how to set "temperature" using the clicking noise of the thermostat in the heater. It also clearly states that you should burn off the chemical smell first by running it in a well-ventilated area for about two hours when you take it out of the package. I did this and the smell went away. I haven't gotten the electric bill yet but I am assuming that it is much more energy-efficient than the space heater I was using just because of how it is designed. Also, for those with old houses, it does not require a 3-prong outlet! In response to those reviewers whose heaters died early, the company has a one-year warranty and offers another two years of coverage for $18. I think this is one of the best deals I have ever gotten.

This heating unit is simply wonderful. We've had it for a week and like the other reviewers state, it is quiet, portable and efficient. I paid quite a bit more than the $60. it is being advertised for here on Amazon, and I don't care-- it's that good.
We bought it because I am always cold, especially at night, and our heating bill was just getting outrageous. Now, we can keep the thermostat lowered and I am comfortable in whichever room I put the heater in. It heats the area up quickly eneough (maybe 20 minutes to its full warmth potential) and keeps the warmth maintained. Our cats have had no trouble with the heater and one of them seems to love it as much as I do. We are buying another one this week.
A note about the sticker problem: we were prepared, with hair dryer in hand, to do battle with the ugly blue sticker. It peeled right off with zero resistance. My theory is the company heard the complaints and corrected the problem.

Edit: One Year Later
I still love it. It works as good as always. We have one on the wall in the bedroom and it is just fantastic. I turn it on low when I start getting ready for bed, and by the time I finish getting ready, the bedroom is pleasantly warm. We have a second one in the 'study' room, and we couldn't be happier. I will never buy a different space heater, this is the one I will always pick.

If you're looking for one of those heaters where you can see the hot orange glow that threatens to burn your skin off, then you will be extremely disappointed with this product. This is a whole-room heater, and a mighty fine one at that. At first, I thought this heater was defective, since I'm so used to the old-school heaters that are super-hot when you're right in front of them and immediately feel the chill when you move away. I practically gave up on it and left the room after 10 mins, and that was when I immediately felt the much cooler air outside. I then realized that this heater had warmed up my entire room evenly, so that there wasn't a great difference between being right in front of the heater vs. on the other side of the room. I like the fact that my toddler won't burn himself when he touches this heater. We haven't had the need to turn it on higher than the 3rd lowest setting. It is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT that you READ THE INSTRUCTIONS so that you'd know how to operate this heater properly. Yes, there are dials and an on-off switch, but read the manual to learn what those numbers on those dials mean. I was looking for a unit with a thermostat read-out before I bought this, but it really doesn't matter what the numerical value of the temperature is when this heater can be set based on your comfort level, not on a number.
